Is there any way where I can have it show my battle net user name instead of my girl name? I want to switch this setting. I looked at the Blizzard info about recruiting a friend andd I saw I could change it, but I donly know where to go. Please help.
Go to your account, then social settings and down to Real ID. You can then disable it.
Will this change anything if I disable real ID? I just want to make sure I’m not missing any out on any vital features of my account.
If you disable RealID you’ll lose any RealID friend that you have in your list.
What information the other players get depend on how you invite them.
Your BattleTag shows to your BattleTag friends. Your RealID friends, which is intended for those people you know like real world friends and family, see your actual name.
That’s dumb. I have added one IRL friend on my bent who doesn’t login anymore; that’s just weird having it just unadd that person. Is there any way I can disable it for recruiting a friend?
I’m not sure what you mean, Rigatoni. The Recruit should see your BattleTag in the Recruit a Friend interface.
The only way they should be able to see your name or you theirs, is if you are also RealID friends. Otherwise, they should just be seeing your BattleTag.
So, my real-life name should not be displayed for recruiting a friend. I have disabled it as a whole. And there’s no possible way to disable it to recruit a friend only?
But if I disable it, then I’ll lose a person I added from real id?
Did you add your recruit as a RealID friend? If not, then they cannot see your name. If you chose to add them via RealID, then you wanted to give them access to that info.
However, if you chose to add them via just the link or via battle tags, then they do not have access to your name. The choice is completely in your control, not Blizzard’s.
Apologizes, Rigatoni, there seems to be some confusion. I’m not sure how I can say this differently.
Your real life name isn’t displayed when you recruit someone, nor is it displayed in the Recruit interface in-game. They don’t see the name registered to your Battle.net account.
The only way that your real name would be displayed to your Recruit, is if you were also RealID friends with that person. If that were the case, they’d see you in their Battle.net friends list, just as you would see theirs in yours. That’s it.
If they are just someone you recruited through the Recruit a Friend link, then they will only see your BattleTag name.
I just generated a RAF link in WoW and sent the link via Discord. I only have this friend added as a battle tag friend. It gave my real first name and last initial on the screen the RAF link led to. I’m not happy about that.
Well. If you have RealID enabled, that would be on you? It’s on us as the player to set our profile and account to the settings we wish to use throughout the game(s).
Click for picture heavy how-to
If you go into your account settings, you’ll see this:
Click on Account Details.
You’ll see this:
It tells you right there Real ID is enabled. If you don’t want people to see that information, you just have to disable it. You can click on the “RealID Enabled”. It’ll take you down into the privacy settings and you just have to turn off the RealID. Click on the “Update” option and then scroll down the list to where you can click off the RealID.
