Recruit a Friend retroactive

I’m wanting to make sure that I understand this correctly: are the RaF rewards that are available based on the number of months purchased by recruits retroactive? I have done a LOT of RaFs over the years and am hopeful, but I’m guessing this is a “we’re only rewarding you for NEW RaFs, who cares that you’ve brought in XX number of long standing recruits with over XX months purchased total over the years. Bring us more NEW accounts and we’ll talk” kind of thing.

They don’t have to be new licenses (any license not played in two years or more is also eligible for RAF), but the rewards only start counting from the moment that link is made. The only thing the system looks for is if the recruit paid for x month since the link, if true, recruiter gets x reward.

It’s a compound system, however. One recruited license will net you one reward per month, two licenses will net two, three will net three, and so on. Conceivably, you could have all 12 rewards in a month.

Here is the specific criteria that Ekon is referring to:

Recruit a Friend
To recruit a friend, your friend’s WoW account must match one of the below descriptions:

1. Your friend’s account is new, created in the last 7 days.
2. Your friend hasn’t paid for game time for over 24 months. If your friend has returned and paid for game time in the last 7 days, they are still eligible to accept your invite.

Your “friend” in this case would be your old RaF accounts

@Ekon, I appreciate the quick and clear response, but it isn’t the answer to my question. I am asking about the recruits that I have used RaF with over the last 10 years. Some of them only stayed for a couple of months each and some have stuck around for at least half of the last 10 years. I want to know if those accounts are going to count for these rewards or if this is a “We don’t care that you have brought this many recruits already, you are starting over, so good luck finding us MORE recruits” situation.

Or is it possible that am I misunderstanding your response?

If you send them the link for the new RaF system and they meet that criteria to be able to be linked, then yes, you can use them for the new RaF program. The old RaF system was retired and replaced with this one.

Edit: Consider it this way, they’re no longer linked to your account since the old system was retired. BUT, if they haven’t paid for game time for 24 months or more, then they can be linked again to your account to earn the rewards.

Old licenses that you have RAF’d in the past can still be used with the new program, so long as they meet the criteria as not having been active in the past two years, sans 7-day grace period, and you have successfully re-linked with them under the new program. But they will not automatically grant you rewards 1-4 or 1-8 simply by purchasing one month, if that is the root of your question.

One month purchased earns one reward.

So this IS a “the recruits that you have brought in with RaF in the past are irrelevant, unless they qualify to be RErecruited as 24 month inactive accounts” situation? It’s annoying that past loyalty and effort are disregarded, but I get that it’s a business thing. This a much better RaF rewards design than the old one, IMO, but I still wish it wasn’t a “who cares what you have done already, what are you going to do for our account numbers, NOW?”

The purpose of RaF is to bring new or past players in… it’s not meant to be a perpetual reward machine. :X

One of the most meaningful changes was to allow you to bring past players back at all.

Technically speaking, the system doesn’t actually distinguish between whether or not you previously recruited them, only whether the account has been essentially dormant for 24months or more.

Basically, it’s a way to bring those who have been gone back into the game again.

It sorta combines a very old retired system (the Scroll of Resurrection) with the new Recruit a Friend system.

That actually existed before, they just hadn’t include the 7 day grace period back then. I missed out on RaF rewards from 2 overzealous friends that I talked into trying the game out again several years back. LOL

Ahh… whoops. :frowning:

To be fair, the old RaF system wouldn’t allow you to send the invite to accounts that were dormant at all. The recruit had to become active again first and could be linked within 30 days of that time.

The new system lets you send a link (link that you provide your friend) who has an account that hasn’t been paid for in the past 24months, or one that’s been reactivated in the past 7days.

So it’s slightly different in that way

All that said, if you would like see changes to the new system or provide feedback, the General forums or the in-game Suggestion feature would be the best place for that.

They werent disregarded…you got rewarded for the ones that qualified under the old RAF program.
