Really dont want to abandon my character…
Or better yet, just disable racial abilities in arena so this debate can be put to rest.
Not everyone wants to race change for racials.
What’s wrong with gnome?
Yes, as with literally any generalization, “not ALL”, which wasn’t my argument. The majority of people say they don’t want to race change for racial abilities, but take a look at WoW throughout its history since race and faction change has been in the game. It just so happens that the races with the best racial abilities conveniently end up being the most populated, I wonder why?
Then why was BE the most popular on horde long before aoe silence was as useful as it was in M+? There were better racials for both pvp and pve during all that time, but BE were still the highest.
Humans were also the most popular race on the alliance even before EMFH.
Fact is, most people pick races for looks, only the sweaties pick them for racials.
Pre-EMFH was pre faction and race change, so it’s not relevant.
On horde side, blood elf silence has always been strong for melee in PvP, the better racial for them are on Alliance. In WOD the arena ladder was dominated by Alliance because of that broken human racial, most of the top PvPers weren’t even horde at all.
I’m talking OVERALL numbers, not just amongst a small subset (ranked pvpers)
Most top raid guilds were horde in MOP, and now the live game is overwhelmingly horde dominated. Even if you personally don’t care, if people perceive all the serious players being on one side it will slowly dominate in one direction, and the extreme imbalance becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.
This was true for many years on Retail. It’s not true for Classic though. Way more sweaties play this game compared to Retail. There is a reason almost every Alliance rogue is human, and it isn’t because the models are so great.
If mass faction/race changes for Every Xir 4 Xirself leads to greater Arena participation AND more BobbyBucks … then to NOT implement faction/race changes (which existed during the original WoTLK) should be interpreted as sabotage by the Dev team.
It was a slow trickle that turned into a deluge because to get good players you eventually had to be horde.
But we’re actually not talking faction transfers here, just race changes. IDK what to think of race changes, but personally I think we should be re-implementing every feature as it came in.
‘Not everyone’ is the vast majority of players. The 1% of sweaty tryhards who obsess over every tiny little perceived imbalanced don’t matter, and they never have. But they live in a bubble and think everyone thinks as they do.
That said, Wrath Classic should have race change. It was in the game back in original Wrath.
Then don’t abandon it. You had no problem being a gnome in classic and crusade. You don’t suddenly need to be tall in wrath.

We know they have little care for preserving the game and giving us what was in it a the time as it was though.
Or better yet Delete Racials entirely and normalize hit boxes and hurt boxes AND remove Leeway.
But not including stuff like this is so bizarre. They’d make a fortune in micro-transactions.

No thank, I enjoy racials
Full cash shop. Faction change, Race change, unlimited 70 boosts, WoW token. Let me swipe in a TOS friendly way kthnx.

That’s the Retail spirit!! ![]()
But yeah, let’s dilute the consequence and meaning of every choice until we get a dull, boring and bland experience just like what happened the first time around. And yet people advocate for the same thing in Classic. I don’t get them.
I wish the racials were even more impactful. It’s an rpg…racial choice should matter. It should feel different, it should play different than using another race. This e-sport mentality has sucked so much of the rpg elements out of the game…it’s sad.
There’s no coming back in the Retail game. The poor devs are handcuffed, not able to actually concentrate on fun or interesting design because of people like you quoted who obsess over all the wrong things that don’t make the game more fun or engaging.
