Reclaiming a Character Name

I am hoping that the very informative people here on the forums can advise me on a situation I have been thinking about.

I have a character name on an inactive account that I have recently been thinking about wanting to use. I know we can no longer transfer characters from 1 license to another.

Is there a way that I can delete the character from the inactive account so I can reuse the name or is that simply not possible?

It is not a serious issue and if I can’t, that is fine, I will not throw a tantrum or anything. I was just wondering if it was possible. The character is on the server that my active account characters are on, so the name is in use on my server.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Deleting would put a hold on the character name. The easiest would be to rename Character A to B, then taking Character A’s name to apply to character C

Is this character on the same battlenet, or over level 30?

You can still transfer between licenses on the same battlenet account, say from wow1 to wow2, but if there’s a different email to login, that’s where the new transfer restrictions take place.

The character that has the name is Level 39. The inactive license is on the same battle.net account. The character that has the name is a monk. I am wanting to level a druid and want to use the name for the druid.

Only way to free up the name is by deleting the character. You don’t have to have game time on the license in order to do so. I think the name would be reserved though to that license for 90 days, which means you wouldn’t be able to use it for 90 days on this World of Warcraft license.

It should be by Battle.net, so even if the character is on a different WoW license, as long as the ohter license is on the same Battle.net account they could use the name.
