Is there something going on that I’m not aware of that’s making everyone ultra-negative and aggressive towards each other these days? The last four seasons, people seemed to be acting reasonably on the whole, but all of a sudden, mythic +/raids/other stuff seems to be filled with insane ragers, ultra-impatience, extreme entitlement, etc. and people all just want to constantly attack each other. I’m all for honest criticism and stuff, but that’s not what this is; it’s kind of just evil and narcissistic. I’m not sure what to attribute it to, either.
It’s not exclusive to instanced content. I’ve noticed people being way more nasty than usual and for absolutely no reason everywhere. And that says a lot since people weren’t exactly the pinnacle of human kindness before.
Seems about the same to me, the people who are toxic are the people who have been toxic before.
Who knows, maybe the expansion just brought back some toxic people who quit before, my own personal experience seems to be that toxic group encounters are rare but can still happen.
~100 timed keys under the belt and barely any toxicity.
In like 150+ total keys, only had 1-2 or leavers tops.
I’ve had a fairly good experience in keys. Since I don’t PvP nor Raid, can’t comment on those 2 pillars.
Exactly. I’m not sure what the problem is… it’s not because it’s a full moon, maybe it’s because of the election (but probably not), and I’m actually kind of perplexed by what I’m seeing.
Gaslighters saying there’s no toxicity aside, I think it is due to the extreme jump in difficulty of content this season. Blizz is tuning the game for 1% of the player-base rather than the majority who support the game.
Its because they’re gamers. That’s just the way they are.
Any idea why that is? It’s obviously been harder, but I wonder why they switched the difficulty up as much as they did.
peeps can be mean to each other jus dnt b mean to swarf
swarf ish delicate n needs love
I’m all for difficult content but it’s really getting to be too much. Mental cognitive load is through the roof. I get done doing a few 6 or 7 keys for the night, after sitting in group finder for hours to actually get in the groups ofc and find myself stressed, exhausted and mentally drained.
I feel the same way to an extent myself. Maybe some of this is people getting burned out too quickly.
This is where society as a whole is headed, only natural it shows up in video games
Yeah, ngl, the burnout is already hitting just about everyone I know. They’re dropping like flies at this point.
People are under insane amounts of stress in their daily lives these days and displaced aggression is a real thing.
What do you personally attribute it to? I have my own theories, but I made the post cause I wanna hear other people’s.
The game is the same it’s always been in terms of toxicity, this isn’t some new surge.
There’s manifold reasons, and it varies from person to person, region to region. Politics has become more polarized than ever. People are having a hard time buying food and paying rent, getting jobs that pay enough or at all. Social media doomscrolling. Alienation from family and a loneliness epidemic. To name a few things.
I remember when gamers were nice. Since gaming and comic cons became mainstream, bullies have decided its fertile farming grounds for picking on people smarter than them. It is getting unbearable. Like i just kind of want to cancel my sub and read instead at this point. My mage is trash now anyway.
Gaming was def better when it was a niche thing. That was a long time ago though. Could argue WoW was probably the first mainstream MMO
Ignoring how much content there is for casual play…
