He stated that they are trying to make M+ more enjoyable and trying to work on Meta issues.
He did make a comment regarding success rates being similar across specs. Basically insinuating that “their” Internal data shows classes arent that uneven.
I cannot believe you would even make that statement when currently you have a tank that has immunity at a 1min 30 second cooldown, aoe silence, interupt reset.
you also have enhance shaman, highest dps in keys by far , lowest cd interupt, free rez on death, defensives, knock up, aoe stun, group healing through AG, LUST??
yes keys can be done with with other classes but that is a crappy argument. Why would anyone want another class in their group?? even a crappy enhance does similar dps to an average class doing their best.
M+ is all about what specs are shown in MDI and whats on top of the ladder. their is a reason why top players pick those classes. Because when you stack all the meta classes the overall group does alot better than a group full of non meta classes. Sure 1 non meta + 4 meta classes works. but that doesnt change the fact that 5man non meta comp vs 5 man meta comp is a world of difference. You have spells like brez, lust that pretty much take 2 spots in M+ group.
They say a lot of things. The thing to do is make a mental note of what they say and compare this with what they do, taking into account the actual effects of what they have done. If the result is the opposite of what they stated as their goal, then it never was their goal.
It also appears they will continue to work to make tanking and healing unappealing until there are no more tanks available for pug groups. Then the dps can join guilds only to find that there are no extra tanks because all the pug tanks either quit or went dps.
Oh hey, ya know that Mythic+ Esports w/e, yeah are internal data shows it sucks big time right now for the players. So, maybe we will, or maybe we won’t try and figure it out and fix it.
They’re looking at the numbers that show that accounts that were previously successful at pushing high keys are doing more keys than ever, and ignoring the fact that people who used to do keys in the range that no longer exists are no longer doing any. Surely if they squeeze them some more they’ll decide to git gud.
He clearly said there are some serious balance issues sometimes. A good example being shamans gapping every dps all season.
But he is right that a lot of issues when it comes to “balance” is player perception. Like ignoring enchance here, say you got a flex spot for a decently tuned dps. You can invite a feral player who will match the dmg of a “meta” spec, but you will probably always pass them up anyways.
Feral isn’t some troll pick that will guarantee you not get title, you’re more than fine getting title with it, but people will never invite you even if your spec is more than fine dps wise because of your bad perception of the spec.
I don’t see why this has to be the case. Yeah there are sometimes where there can be exceptions. For example necrotic wake and having a priest mind control the bone thrower dude. You’re going to hit a wall if you don’t have a priest on that key a lot sooner because you don’t have the mob soloing the dungeon.
But specs/classes aren’t miles behind each other to say you can’t form a group with “non meta” specs and not get your title that way. Sure you will have an easier time with an enhance shaman in there, but you don’t need them to do it.
And it goes back to what ion is saying. While data might show x spec is more than fine, it doesn’t matter because people will actively avoid you because of how that spec/class is perceived. So you will have to work twice as hard to get the same achievement as enhance shaman. Even if say, feral doesn’t need a damage buff.
the people currently struggling in 5s are going to struggle no matter what class and spec they play, as long as they think the issue is their class/spec.
It really isnt about struggle. its more about why some classes have a easier time than others. and why would you go out of your way to pick a class that has a tougher time dealing with mechanics. case and point Brew master monk in keys vs Prot paladin
This is a never ending battle. At the start of the season, people were claiming it was impossible to heal keys if you weren’t resto shaman, but people quickly adapted when prot paladin came into the picture. Is resto shaman suddenly bad and making your keys harder to clear?
