Reasons to Transfer from High Pop Server (Pagle)

Hello all!

I created my character on Pagle at launch and currently a 47 Dwarf Hunter, with the opportunity to transfer to Windseeker for free.

I am curious if I should or not, since Pagle is the highest population Alliance server currently (Westfall is 2nd), and questing can be a challenge to fight for mobs as they spawn, etc.

Help me understand…What benefits are there long term to transferring to Windseeker with less people (about half currently, 30k vs 60k on Pagle)?
How will it be after some people quit classic?

Pagle transfer here - It will be fine, layering will be gone and it will be more crowded than any original WOW server ever was.

Transfered from Westfall and I couldn’t be happier. Just spent the afternoon in ULDA then knocking out some Stranglethorn Vale quests with a few people I did ULDA with, joined one of their guilds. They went out of their way to help me out. What’s not to like?

One of the best things about it is it was basically unaffected by layering exploits. The economy is healthy and growing not saturated. This is a much more authentic Vanilla experience, imo.

Krait said it perfectly. I came from Westfall too and second everything Krait said.

Thanks guys. I didn’t even think about the layering exploit.

Please continue to point things out…
I want to transfer, but need more reasoning before pulling the trigger!

yes, i forgot to mention it to, but the economy is booming. This is probably one of the only servers that wasnt massivley effected by mass mages making it to level 60 using layering, and massive exploits for layered farming.

this server is the most fair server IMO. - pagle sucks economy sucks, guilds all cliqued together too, if youre not one of them youre not getting the raid loot.

Another primary reason to consider transferring to here would be that this realm has one of the most balanced horde to alliance ratio. Playing on the other servers they seemed extremely one sided in comparisons.

I noticed the alliance to horde ratio being close also, and am not sure what to think of it.

Is that a good thing considering that this isn’t a PvP server? Would more horde just mean that it’s more people you can’t group with that are tagging mobs you need?

good que times for phase 2

It’ll make a big difference, especially once the pvp systems are added followed later by the battlegrounds being added in. Once the layering is removed we will have more balanced world pvp and better battleground Q times.

It really is night and day. If you would honestly prefer to play on a server like Pagle is(according to you) I really think that’s a solid judge of character right there.

On a high population server, world bosses will not happen unless you are in one of the top guilds and even then its a maybe.

On my last server Stalagg, all I could hear in LFG chat was MELEECLEAVE or SPELLCLEAVE… and the level 55+ players always posted LF2M BRD Ironfoe and HoJ on reserve… who reserves items in a PUG group?

Overall, I didn’t like the atmosphere on the high population server.

Started on Windseeker and enjoying it so far. Classic is not even a month old yet… So its impossible to predict what any server will be like in a few months or a year. No one even knows when each phase will hit… months? year? years?

Welcome to Windseeker!

I transfered from Westfall in the first batch and it’s been great. There is what I would consider a normal, acceptable level of competition for quest mobs that have low drop rates of quest items - really hasn’t been a problem at all. There isn’t as much gear to buy on the AH, which can be a pain if you’re not doing any dungeons while leveling, but it’s not too bad considering how right now everyone is saving their gold for mounts.

One really neat aspect of the PvE servers is that you’re able to make both Alliance and Horde characters. This allows people to create guilds on both factions and organize them using external tools, such as Discord. People can then put together fun world PvP events like “Raid on Stormwind”, where the Horde division of the guild takes on the Alliance division. That’s the kind thing where friendships, rivalries, and memories happen! Of course, it takes some dedicated leadership to pull off, but it’s possible.

It’s a bit quiet here, but that’s a good thing. On Westfall, every zone was full of the most infantile, obnoxious spam/banter, to the point where I said to my wife, “why would I pay to play a game with a bunch of idiot children?”. Seriously, why would I? So it’s nice that Windseeker seems to have a more mature population.

Where do you guys get population stats?

How do I sign up to transfer my characters?

Population charts can be found here… wowpop.appspot.com

Census mod no longer works so the population data is no longer accurate.

Well you could say that the data was never 100% accurate to begin with. But seeing as its support really was just recently ended because of blizz, I’d say its still the most accurate picture of server population we currently have.

I just came over from Mankrik. I went from so full of people you could not complete a quest, to 30 minutes for a Healer, Tank, and me “LF2M DPS for RFD”…at 9pm. No idea how long they “LF3M DPS” before I joined.

It’s a little dead. If there’s layering here…it needs to go!

I think the majority of the server is still leveling, 18-25 range.

Our guild transferred over to Windseeker from Pagle when the free transfers first opened up. I have not regretted it at all. Pagle was just too congested at all hours. The thought of what Pagle would look like when the layers get removed was enough to convince me to leave.
