Ironically gatekeeping is the entire reason why PuG’s actually work and can do difficult content.
Taking the first players to apply with no metrics beyond role and appropriate ilvl is why LFR is such a dumpster fire.

Agreed, IO is so advanced compared to gearscore and other rudimentary scoring systems that we can gatekeep more efficiently and choose successful players out of an entire crowd of crap so accurately, that we can actually do the content.
But should the place we go to in order to escape from real like become a mirror of real life?
Yes because we are humans, as humans we try to emulate systems of society in a video game because it feels familiar to us. This talking point isn’t really an argument for anything it’s just talking based of ignorance to the fact that it takes a lot of time and effort to build your own key, which is why they gatekeep so hard since there’s no failsafe for a random person leaving abruptly during a run, or happen to not be knowledgable about the game.
Why would you expect it to be otherwise?
Especially when 15 years of gameplay have proven it such an effective strategy.
If I wanted a high level key I could bum a run with a guildie or buy a run and get a level 18 key right now. Once I have it all I have to do is run it over time for the week and I can keep a high level key for a few weeks running off the one high level run.
So please stop acting like everyone earned them, Most of them are just the left overs of other high level runners who did earn them.
One can always make their own group, that is true. However not all personalities like to make groups and some tend to avoid it if they can. We should be able to list ourselves as looking for any group in the group finder system.
I do not think we have had this system in place for 15 years. I think we have been going down in subs since it was put in. Funny enough the peek was in LFD.
If you want to do that then it’s your own perogative. Then you can choose to not gatekeep and then see your key fail because you invited the first 4 people that applied to your group. But you wouldn’t care because you already got the highest level reward in your weekly cache. Good on you.
But this method of getting a key does not change anything about what I said about gatekeeping so you can push the key. We’re not talking about running with guildies or buying your runs, we’re talking about pugging, which is the main source of gatekeeping in M+.
And I’m sorry that this person’s own decision to not make their own group because of their personality, that doesn’t mean I have to take their crap-talking about IO, and it just feels like a projection statement to me.
We haven’t had keys for 15 years, true. But we’ve had PuG’s for 15 years, and it’d be foolish to think that the same (successful) systems that we had in place for dungeon pugging before keystones wouldn’t translate into keystone groups.
People Hate IO with good reasons, It’s nothing on you personally.
IO has just become a useful tool that enables the best and the worst in people.
As for me personally I really really just want them to upgrade the group interface in WoW. I think it would help so much. That and I want my right to post looking for groups back. Right now it’s soooo once sided to favor only those who are posting the groups.
I do, and should i get someone trying to epeen their rio score, i won’t take them. I don’t need to carry someone who bought a bunch of runs. I’ll take the chance with a person that I have talked with that requested to join, and not some moron with an imagined score.
Even without IO I could screen you right now on the WoW armory and see that you haven’t even completed +10s on any dungeon. So why would I take you over this other person who has +15 times across the board?
I agree that we should improve the ingame systems but we can also do this with the official WoW website too. Mythic+ is not raiding like you love to do. We don’t have a safety net for if someone leaves mid-instance, or that someone is just plain garbage, if Blizzard improved the M+ systems, we would be in business.
What if we remove m+ altogether? Id like to see just running lfg, norm, heroic, and then mythic dungeons for gear. It was a simpler system. Groups went at their own pace, gear dropped, everyone would be happy. if you come across a crappy player than just remember to not invite them again.
I remember back in WoD I would ask my guild to run my fresh monk through skyreach heroic and they would do so. Now heroic dungeons are a literal joke, literally nobody queues normal / heroic outside of grinding some form of mats or w/e. Ive seen really good players have like 399 io and would be berated and declined from groups because of this stupid system. And the cherry on top, you can’t just do the dungeons you need anymore, you HAVE to run every single dungeon for high IO to get into higher keys for better gear. It’s dumb. Remove m+ please. (It would also let blizz be more creative around their dungeons instead of pathing it like some sort of dumb race (ToS for example).
I believe it’s just the time limit and how punishing it is to make mistakes at anything above +10. Like I said, no safety nets to remedy that. I think the Awakened affix can be attributed to being a positive change because you can essentially skip a lot of troublesome mobs. But that’s just only a baby step in the right direction.
I don’t do mythic plus much myself, Not because I can’t do them, Not because I don’t like them. Frankly it’s because my friends are not always on when I am on, My play time is limited to raid and prepping for raiding currently and mostly because sitting in town refreshing a list and getting turned down for low level (0-7) runs over and over is NOT FUN for me.
In some cases that low IO score does not equal bad player at all. Sadly when I do get in I’m the only one doing the kicks, doing the mechanic’s right and following the tank.
You’re also extremely overgeared for the +7s you’re doing, and you found a desperate group that will take you just based off ilvl. Try building your own key, I bet you would do so much good for the community by carrying lesser-geared players with your dps.
Blizzard can’t ban RIO. It’s a 3rd party site that has no direct impact on the game or it’s files
It’s not an addon
It only uses what information blizzard publicly gives.
Love Rader IO. The success rate of completing dungys in time with players who do dmg or know routes and know how to heal are light years difference from people with extremely low or 0 IO score. I screen for all my keys because i want success… noone wants to run with kids who cant do any of these. Its frustrating and you just end up leaving after 50 wipes with bads. You seem to be angered because you cant get in groups… but your a hunter… and BM is stupid OP… how is ur IO so low lol…
What sort of percentage do you think bought their rio score? Obviously no one has exact stats but just your ball park hunch?
I’m curious and ask everyone who mentions buying io so don’t think I’m trying to call you or anything.
That’s flat out untrue. Getting my alt up to speed a few weeks ago and queues for heroics were so fast I couldn’t even quest while doing them.
All of which you can do in M0, and really in M+ up to probably 7ish.
Of course it doesn’t.
It guarantees inexperienced. Which often correlates but not always.
High io on the other hand is the opposite. Usually means they are good but not always.
I’ll take my odds with the high io option rather than low io any day.
