“We don’t like stuff being removed from the game.”
They go back and talk amongst themselves.
“Well, they definiately hate when we senselessly remove stuff from the game. This “portalgate” thing as they’re calling it, and the waterstrader debacle are going over as well as new Coke.”
::akward silence::
“You know, that refer a friend thing looks mighty tempting.”
“Give that man a raise!”
They can’t integrate the new program seamlessly into the current one, because they can’t walk and chew gum at the same time where designing the game is concerned.
I’d believe that, except their numbers people have been telling them via their quarterly reports that their metric padding moves (like portalgate) have been costing them money for years. I doubt they would suddenly start listening to them now on a completely hypothetical situation that hasn’t even happened yet. Unless they said refer a friend might gain them customers. Then they would remove it, because acting counter intuitively to harm the game is something they seem to do really well.
In the past I really enjoyed Thunder Isle, Timeless Isle and Tanaan jungle for their diverse content and relatively small total area. And Blizzard/Ion suggested that Mechagon/Najzatar will be more like those areas, so I’m cautiously optimistic.
I still remember chasing that danged shark “Evermaw” around Timeless isle and making the Dread Ship Vazuvious rise.
I just pray that actually getting to the new zones isn’t a 5+ minute futile exercise in patience on the back of yet another insipidly meandering taxi bird.
Oh, lord, what a nightmarish thought. I was criticized in another thread for the number of posts I’ve made–as if one can’t make dozens of posts in the time it takes to get anywhere in WoW these days.
[rp:on] And, sayyyy, if you want me to sic da goblin Goon Squad on that gnoll-kissing lowlife, you just give da word, yeah? Sounds like someone needs a facefull of Azerite! [rp:off]
Same for Nightborne / Dark Iron. Each of which are by the faction city embassy. No real reason to go back to the starting area for any of them though, but it was nice of them to at least make it possible without having to carry around another special hearthstone.
New rule: You (Blizzard) have to start a poll every time you want to do something like this, and if it doesn’t score at least 75% positive votes, you can’t do it.
They could have made it a spell like they did for the druids. I am not sure why they bothered with starter zones for the Allies, considering you really never did anything there and have zero reason to go back. Seemed like a waste of resources.
Yeah Thunderbluff and Ironforge seem to have been given a nuke in that sense as far as useful cities. I be all for having portals in all the cities to match Orgrimars but Blizz says ‘nooo you have to go to the orc city because…well… spikes!’.
Well, the whole size of the world excuse is so lame it’s hard to believe you think we’re that stupid. We pay for time the more time we waste flying, the more money you make. I’ve played many games that seemed big but allowed fast travel. Guild Wars is a good example.
That said I don’t mind what you did too much. You’ve done it before and when you took the first portals out of old Dalaran there was just as much of a uproar.
Some things that would help are faster taxi’s. Once you get a flight whistle let it work anywhere in the world. Put some neutral zeplins or boats or portals in from Booty Bay to Winterspring and Tanaris and Ratchet and add a steemwheel port of call in northern Eastern Kingdoms. So from any one of those steemwheel cities you can get to any of the others.
Some things that can help players are using your old hearthstones. Use Your Dalaran hearthstone to get to the port to Org or Stormwind in Dalaran. Your 2 Draenor hearthstones can get you to a port to Ashran and then to Org or Stormwind. It’s a couple of hops but if your in a hurry it works. Then your regular hearthstone should be ready again.
