I believe the insinuation was if you were on a particular quest the portal necessary for completion of that quest would show up. Not that in a certain level range, the portals would show up.
I did read that early on there were so issues that had been reworked. Not sure if that fits in with what youre talking about.
One thing that is cool is you can actually just buy the game and play without a sub. The sub just really gives extras for the most part.
So if you werent competing in PvP…say thats not your thing, you could just buy the game and expansions once and be done with it.
That alone is pretty cool.
Ive played the ES series since Daggerfall, so theres some history. I have to say that so far this is absolutely the best ‘version’ of the game Ive played to date.
“hey guys…lets take this 6 lane highway and make it 2 lanes to make it SEEM like its ‘busier’ while also having the effect of making it feel ‘bigger’ because it takes 4 times longer to get there”
Well the good news is that, the next generation of game designers might not make decisions based on flawed, at the core, design philosophies. --checks status of immortality potions–
Even with flying it was still a big world. It had secrets all over. I remember doing the work finding all the items so I could get the flying disk. That was fun. And some were located in very cinematic locations.
Things like that is how you make the world bigger. Put content into it!
Oh so that’s what there teaching our kids in school except civics so as to be more little ants in for a colony, mind programming .You’re saying this portal exclusion is a form of this?
Collectors are a Big Thing to Blizzard. Why do you think they made Collections? They knew that Collectors were a big enough market to make alterations to the game to handle their needs.
Now, they’ve turned around and kicked these same Collectors in the nuts.
Blizzard made the decision that farming old content for mogs, mounts and pets was a valid style of play. Since they made alterations to accommodate them.
And since they agreed it was valid, your opinion doesn’t matter.
Oh, and again, Raiding with Leashes? That’s going back and doing old content. And they update it regularly (and they just added a new level). So Collectors are still alive and thriving. But with Blizzard continually working to make their experience less pleasant by slowing down their means of getting around, I wonder how long that’ll last.
This is very true. But you have to admit, when WoW first came out, it was much more of a “sandbox” style MMO than it is now. Does anyone remember the old WoW commercials with the different celebrities, where they asked “What’s YOUR game?” Because everyone played the game differently back then. People still play the game differently, but there are definitely a lot more rails now. Players with different play styles are being funneled into narrow play styles now. The devs, especially Ion, have become so controlling that they ARE micro-managing this game into insignificance.
They have already admitted to designing the game that THEY want to play (M+, raids, e-sports), we are just invited along. If your play style isn’t like theirs, they don’t care about you beyond how much money they can get out of you. Sad, but true. The Blizzard North talent left the building a long time ago, and they left these devs in charge to suck the fun out of the game bit by bit with their control freak tactics.
Thread has surpassed one of the high elf threads to become the 2nd most populated thread on the forums and still no further reply huh?
It really feels like they see all these players doing anything but the most recent content at max level and decided to do what they could to herd us into the endgame.
Sad that they can’t appreciate the value of the whole world they have created, and the customers that want to enjoy that in different ways.
By zone BfA is less than 3% of the playable world. That means 97% of the available content gets made more and more irrelevant because some portion of the player base likes the old stuff rather than the new shinny.
This is what is discouraging as a new(er) player. So much world to explore and play in - made so pointless, inaccessible, and monotonous.
I’ve saved the world, and the horde from {Arthas, Deathwing, Garosh, Archimonde, Gul’dan, Kil’jaden, …} I’ve beaten Kanrethad Ebonlocke with a fel stick. Stole his green fire and made him my lackey/combat ally. I’ve completed all three of my specs mage tower challenges.
I am speaker of de freaking Horde, Commander general of our Garrison on Draenor, conquerer of Outland…
And blizzard thinks I should be schlepping around on economy coach, or some hobo hitchhiker.
I should have a mage on permanent retainer by now, willing to expedite my travel to any place I’ve conquered.
And who wants to put up with that crap?
the ‘muh immersion’ sorts keep claiming that in the ‘good ole days’ we all talked.
Well this aint the good old days. This isnt the same game with the same players it was a decade ago.
I dont want MY travel options more limited because ‘ah likes muh immersion to be long and boring’.
Really?
Guess I was right then. This IS a dead, hole in the wall, nothing forum then.
I could fart and get more active members.
Course, when biased moderators are watching every single word to keep passing out suspensions it does tend to drive off members in masses.
