But the reward system isn’t designed around players playing on 50 toons. The reward system is designed around the devs wanting certain drops to be rare, and having multiple alts is how players compensate for that design. You can take away people’s alts, but that won’t actually change how the devs design drops; they’ve always had ridiculous low drop-rate rewards in game. Ergo, no, people playing 50 alts does not affect the reward system in the game you play.

And its not just about that.
Personally I ENJOY starting a new character and leveling them.
I have at least a dozen newer HM Tauren that I had been leveling thru Classic.
Thats MY business, not DS’s. Not in the slighest is it their business. They, however, make it MY business when they come in here making personal attacks, insinuating mental illnesses when someone has 50 alts they like to hop around on here and there.

Ok, so farming on 50 toons is just a completely healthy behavior that should be encouraged? What a fun experience it must be, not boring at all. Clearly the pinnacle of game design.

You play the game you pay for the way you want to, and let others play the game they pay for the way they want to.

Well, in this case, the reward structure is long established and the best strategy is to increase your number of attempts per week. This is not cheating; cheating would be finding a way to circumvent lockouts.

I think this is a poorly thought out position. I don’t agree with the argument that consolidation in SW and Org requires removing Portals in Dalaran and Pandaren.

But it won’t make me unsub. Because I had already decided to do that. After 10+ years I am done in 4 hours. I will keep following the game and may decide to come back if and when I think Blizzard is actually responsive to the playerbase in meaningful ways.

The problem is way worse then that. The only reason this system even exists is that wow has a habit of destroying the previous expansions by making the content exponentially easier without removing or relocating the dangling rewards.

It isn’t really a problem though since the rewards from previous expansions are cosmetic in nature. They even go out of their way to encourage solo farming of obsolete content by removing/changing mechanics that would otherwise be impossible for one person to deal with.

I never said it was, but it now became a reward system that encourages this. If this is the best strategy, this is what the reward system encourages. and I don’t think this is a good idea.

The #1 justification they are using to make this change is that it makes the world bigger, yet I don’t think a single person has presented an example of HOW it does that in any way, shape or form. The only thing it does is shovel people into Stormwind and Ogrimmar. If anything, there are legitimate arguments that it makes the world not only less convenient, but also SMALLER, not larger. I don’t even know why we have other cities anymore.

I just think s/he doesn’t have a coherent argument. The problems and solutions offered vary too wildly from post to post, making me think it’s argument for the sake of argument rather than to support a position.

I mean, look at how s/he went from “the removal of portals is fine, because the game is about overcoming inconveniences…but they should just make every FP an instant transport griffin-shaped portal.” It’s nonsensical and self-contradictory even without the weird digressions speculating on other players’ mental health.

I wasn’t aware of this until a few days ago and other players didn’t seem to know until I told them. So yes, a lot of people are still unaware. I’m not one to post in forums… but like you said… this was upsetting enough for me to jump in and say something. I seriously doubt I’ll be the only one.

I was talking about a scenario that described cheaters as an analogy. read before responding.

The scenario was a strategy game that had an obvious cheat and that made the game become about the best cheater instead of the best strategist.

Agreed. Not a lot of people pay attention to the PTR/MMOchamp for changes. I can’t wait for it to go live lol.
