Rearranging and Removing Portals

I applaud you for that. I however have already taken my money elsewhere, but have promised to return in 8.2 to finish part 2 of the pathfinder achievement. It seems I will be regretting making that promise.

Yeah,i even noticed it too,I got the ring to teleport to barolus ,at first it was instant then there was a loading screen.

Same here. The wife and I both spend all day playing FF14 yesterday. Love the UI flexibility that requires a few addons with WoW…though I do overlook it in WoW since its an older game

The thing is, like flying, people don’t have to use the portals if they don’t want to.

Well, that’s maybe not 100% true. I’m not sure if there’s any way to get to Deepholm without a portal. You can get to all the other Cata zones with flight points (including Vash’jir).

Anyway, I don’t understand the argument that what other players like to do could ruin my immersion.

There is only two ways as far i know the potion and the dungeon stone there.Let me check something but you’ll have to be there regardless.

That’s where I have been spending my, admittedly little, spare time. It’s an interesting game, and they don’t seem to have an issue with portals or flying. Hell, you can get a port from one part of a city to another part of it. Doesn’t seem to be an issue at all. Odd how things work with different games and development teams, don’t you think so?

Oh, duh. I forgot the potion. And I’m an Alchemist. But I guess both that and the summoning stone are essentially “portals” not flight points. Which is why I don’t understand why trinkets, rings, cloaks, etc. are okay, but not portals.

And for that matter, why can’t I, a Tauren, have a cloak that takes me to Thunderbluff? I confess I’d rather have a portal, but why do all those cloaks only go to Org (or SW)?

Definitely agree.
Business model/philosophy has killed more companies than anything Ive ever seen. Killed a couple of them I worked for in the 80s and 90s that didnt need to go belly up.

Yeah. Itd be like me demanding pet battles be removed because I dont find it ‘immersive’ while someone else enjoys that part of the game.
Pettiness on my part.

Probably going to get yelled at for this, but don’t see the big deal. I have never played a game with portals, but then again I mainly play Star Wars game, like SWTOR and for a long time we had to take our ships to travel to another planet, which was very long… Recently they added a quicker way especially if you were doing heroics. In SWG we never had faster ways, we either had to drive our vehicles across miles of sand (tattoine) or take our ship to another planet and then drive miles again to get to the location unless for some chance they had a shuttle but there was only a limited amount of shuttles allowed on each planet.

and how on earth does RESTRICTING my access to the world help with exploring in any conceivable way?
If anything it’ll discourage exploration.
There is no development cost for portals that have been there not bothering anyone for half a decade.

Those cata ports wouldn’t change for 120 or those with the quest to get there but for low level farmer doing herbalism ,the potion and dungeon port are the only way.
My guess because it’s a guild perk, about the cloak.

Its fine to have an opinion. Thats what elections are about. The problem there starts when we ignore real concerns of the other side as if OUR opinion matters more than theirs when THEIR lives are the ones really affected by some absurd policies.
So lets say politician A wants to remove public assistance. I have no dog in that fight. Im not on it. I have no business telling those who NEED it that they need to ‘get over it’ because Im not in their shoes.

Same thing here. Opinions are fine. Just dont tell those who do use and need something to suck it up as if their game doesnt matter. Thats a real good way to just have many leave the game and take that sub money thats needed to keep those servers up and running over to another game. Not good for the long term health of THIS game that we ALL should be able to enjoy and love.

Sounds like something Id not have lasted very long in IF getting around were overly necessary.

The WOW cloud is a fickle mistress. You’d be amazed at how much more they’ve been able to sort of do, with so much less. The bean counters love it.

It is normal for people to give their opinion that they are not being affected.

Some people are affected, others are not, and stating their personal satisfaction with it does not diminishes the problem of the other.

If a thing affects someone, you shouldn’t expect the entire player base to suddenly go rescue that person.

I wondered a while back if they werent going to more of a cloud set up than individual servers.

‘normal’. thats a very subjective word.
its ‘normal’ for people to offer opinions when asked by other people who are affected by something.
It ISNT ‘normal’ for people to keep inserting themselves into other peoples affairs when it doesnt directly affect them. Most people have their own lives and problems to deal with and dont have the TIME to inject themselves everywhere they arent required to be.

The person you replied to is posting here for the first time. She is not inserting herself, she is responding to a dev question.
