How much you want to bet they are inundated with bug reports for days too. People are going to just assume it is a bug, because why would Blizzard be so stupid as to remove these portals?

Initially, most likely.
Should take maybe an hour or two tops before most realize the truth and go absolutely haywire about it.

Because whose feedback is being ignorned? I don’t happen to have a problem with the portal removal so they are listening to my feedback. There are about 500 upvotes for the first negative reply. Even with the most pessimistic estimate of the number of people still subbed that is an insigificant portion of the playerbase. Which makes sense since it is unlikely that more than a small portion of the subbed players visit and interact with the forums.

My opinion, guess if you will, is that the vast majority of players won’t even notice, or will consider it a minor inconvenience at best. If one of them presents a major problem they’ve asked for feedback on why.

You see, it’s not just the removal of the portals that are the problem, it’s the apparent philosophy behind it that is the problem. 500 for(give or take) and 5000 against(give or take), either way, with the declining subs, both number are significant.

The portals have been in game for, what, years? And yet not once have I(speaking only for myself here) ever seen, or heard, one person ask for they’re removal. Now that ActiBlizz is removing them, you got people crawling out of the woodwork saying, “Yeah! Take them out, they ruin my immersion!”

They’ve never ruined my immersion, nor has flight for that matter. You know what does ruin my immersion? Lack of fantastic ways to travel in a fantasy MMORPG. Case in point, lack of portals. Is this not a fantasy game? Do we not play to take a break from reality?

As far as immersion goes, no one person can speak for what makes or breaks another person’s sense of immersion, not really. Nor can the dev team speak for what ruins immersion for the players. It seems to me the players have spoken out resoundingly to not remove the portals. Don’t the players pay the bills? When you get right down to brass tacks, that is indeed the case. Might be their opinions should be listened to a bit more(within reason).

Those portals are ALWAYS bustling with activity.
How could they be stripped away and NOT be noticed?

If I loved road trips Id be doing THAT, not sitting here all day playing video games.

I’m pretty sure they said they were in fact adding those into the Portal rooms and it just wasn’t on the PTR yet…

They (Bornakk) was actually talking about the BfA portal rooms, not the SW/Org portal rooms, which is where I’d like to see them.

For the part that was brought up about things like Ironforge being removed from the BfA portal rooms, I don’t think that’s intentional and should be changed in future build.

As I said, I was speaking only for myself. And that is indeed the first time I have ever seen that video, or heard of it for that matter. Mages seem to be the ones that complained, of course they did. I’d complain too if someone took something that I do that is useful and made it nearly useless. That reminds me of inscription . . .

Here is my up vote for you. Loading screens are not game play, this is just another lame attempt by Blizzard to slow content consumption. Pathetic!

I believe that it is a part of their trend, like scaling, to try and make all of the game areas relavant for exploring, journeying, etc. Personally I expect to see continuing changes in this direction.

Why? Well if I were to guess it is because the development effort/cost of the past may not be sustainable going forward. Not because they are losing money on WoW but maybe because the ROI for scarce resources (artists, developers, etc.) is less for WoW than it is for other types of games.

I’m still having fun and these types of changes don’t bother me so I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and see where the current path takes us.

I wouldnt be surprised that some tiny minority have and do, just like some want flight removed.
This aint classic. We have 10 times the land mass the game had in classic. Flight may have not been a big necessity THEN, but it is now, especially for those of us who keep that AH stocked for other players who are leveling up and needing old world mats to level professions…and to make old world gear for mogs.

A point some here seem to be oblivious to…leveling new characters.
Seems as if we dont WANT NEW players coming in or something.
If they want to remove the AH entirely, then sure, I dont ‘need’ those portals anymore.
