People are willing to unsub over the smallest of things now. There are too many other game options out there so making a change that is nothing more than an inconvenience to your players only helps them make that decision of moving to one of those other options.
It’s change for the sake of change that hasn’t hurt anyone or been complained about for, in some cases, around 10 years. It’s asinine and honestly, they deserve to lose people if they push forward with this.

What gives you the right to decide that what someone does for entertainment is “self harm?”

Already have one family member fed up with these change .He plans to unsub after this month and uninstall the game.He says “That’s it”
So it’s okay for someone to spend all week grinding mythic dungeons and raiding and doing WQs as one character, but it’s not okay for someone to farm for transmogs and mounts on a multitude of alts?

I am sure that you are right. That was, after all, the real reason they removed the portals in Shattrath and Northrend Dalaran at the start of Cataclysm anyway.

I have a legit question to anyone who is for the change.
How DO you think inconveniencing me by making me travel longer to do the thing I want to do either benefits myself or you? Perhaps that’s a biased way to phrase it, my apologies, let’s try again.
What benefit does removing the portals I use give both to ME and to YOU?
I am legit curious because I can’t read every single reply in these threads, but I have not yet seen a reason that I really understand? The devs gave their reason, and I don’t agree with it…but what about the rest of you as fellow players?
I guess the biggest thing I see is people think they feel more immersed when they’re inconvenienced to travel somewhere and it takes longer thus is more rewarding. I don’t feel rewarded doing that, I feel rewarded completing the content I have traveled to hundreds of times.
Is there a benefit you think someone like me would have without using portals? Would I find it more rewarding? Is there something you think I’m missing? I’m really just trying to understand why portals existing bothers other people so much. Do you think I’ll stumble across something I’ve missed? Do you think I’ll engage other players more?
Because, to me, my answer is a definitive no to all of the above but I’m curious to hear how someone thinks it will positively affect my experience and make the change worthwhile.
People keep saying it’s a trivial change to remove the portals, but doesn’t that work both ways? If portals are so trivial, what does it hurt to have them in as they were?

I can’t think of a reason why it would hurt people having them in.

Well good luck with all this portal drama see ya. Hopefully there is another expansion to come back too.

As far as i can tell no one had an issue with the portals ,only the devs.

Nothing makes a world feel more alive like… making every other city in the game into ghost towns.
Maybe if people want to pay $15 to do outdated content, that’s their prerogative, and trying to funnel them into doing things they don’t want to do is just going to lead to more unsubscribed players instead of an “active world”.
This, combined with grind after grind after grind (for people who like alts, anyway) just makes the whole game painfully tedious.
Pick a character. Get them to 120.
Okay, grind to Exalted with Faction A. You got the Allied Race character.
Now level to 110 with drastically reduced XP (until there’s so much of a sub drop we have to fix it).
Now grind to Exalted with Faction B. Level to 110 with that character. Feeling the burn yet?
Okay, good, because now you need to go to the opposite faction, get to 120 over there, and grind to Exalted with their Factions A and B. Wanna play that new race at current content? Either get to grinding for that Heritage Armor or fork over the $$$ for a boost or race change.
I get that a lot of that is completely optional (especially getting all the heritage armors), but I don’t remember ever feeling this way in a past expansion. When I made a goblin in Cata or a pandaren in MoP, I wasn’t groaning and going, “Ugh, I’ve already got max level characters. Why am I leveling new ones?”

“Please Listen to player feedback Blizzard your players play your game that you develop to have fun. And stop taking fun away. That is all thanks. Have a good one .”

I want to shatratt today there was no one there it was like a ghost town
You realize, do you not, that removing the incentive to do old content would also remove incentive for some people to even log in, do you not? If someone has no incentive to do content, then they have no incentive to play. If they have no incentive to play, then why would they bother maintaining a subscription to the game at all?

Playing through Legion has given me a whole new meaning and understanding of ‘immersion’ as a warlock.
Here’s a rundown:
Watching tons of different skin/color/size/shape of demons parading through our faces while we are still stuck with the same looks and even choices on minions. Check.
Watching one spec got entirely wrecked and stay wrecked for an entire expansion? Check
Watching Legion, Black Council, even NPC minions opening gateways to go anywhere at anytime, but playable Netherlords are forced to run inside the sewer just to access their own class hall despite already knowing how to summon gateways? Check
It’s like having a developer/developers constantly breaking the 4th wall: See what we can do? Don’t even accuse we lack creativity. Oh, you wanna know why we don’t give these to you? That’s simple.
Because we can!
So immersive. /s

You know I meant they are supported content wise. Stop being pedantic. My argument for calling them useless is a rebuttal for their argument they are removing them to make the world feel “larger”, which is a farce and you know it. Stop drawing your own conclusions when know full well what I meant.
What does what you want have to do with whether or not you are committing self harm? After all (according to you), someone who farms on 50 characters is committing self harm, regardless of whether that is what they want to do or not.

The decision making in this expansion has been pretty terrible honestly. Specs are left in bad shape for months. Your story choices are to be a horde genocidal mass murder or an alliance punching bag.
Now, you are trying to make older content harder to get to? I am at a loss for words on why you are trying to make the game less fun to play?

It not a good idea to try to keep everyone in one hub even with sharding, so the removal of so many portals is pretty frowned upon. Maybe I like hanging out in shrine or dalaran. Guess it not about what the customer want, blizzard pretty much summed that up when they laid off so many employees many of which was doted on by players for the social aspect that we wanted in our community. W/o the slew of community manager we used to see I feel blizzard activison going down hill when they ain’t even losing any profit. Talked about greed, but that already been discussed on another topic. The only thing I got going for me is zandalli paladin & even then I don’t think I’m going to put that much effort in this game anymore, so many of my friends left for FFXIV cause there exact words WoW is BORING. You can thank twitch prime for giving out the first xpac of FFXIV & 30 day sub for free. I lost alot of respect after the laid off, but I still play just not as often & for what? To grind azerite level just for blizzard to take it away like they did on legion to our weapon? They need to learn how to put item over from one expac to another, they would have better reaction after so much work we put into it. Yes yes it part of the story line, yes it was mention from the get go that we wouldn’t get to keep our weapon in BFA but no don’t mean I had to like it why I didn’t bother playing prepatch or the first month of BFA. I still raid twice a week, but my heart is with the group not the game. I seen someone mention it a good idea to play more then one game, well they ain’t lying.
tldr version
Blizzard suck, wow is boring & the laid off pissed me off. #1 reason to not play anymore, but that just me after a decade of playing. I don’t care about this game anymore with all the terrible decision making & rebuttal to give the customers what we want w/o removing contents from years ago. Removing Cavern of Time portal? Serious? Who do I talked to in order to become a devs? I got zero experience too.
