I’d consider it but I’m on a different server (and several toons in the 30 to 50 range, so starting over would suck). Either way, hope your FC does well!
I shoulda figured that a company who is controlling enough to limit something as asinine and trivial as likes on a forum wouldnt take long to agitate me into quitting.
Thank you for confirming what type of person I thought you were.
Don’t worry I could buy thousands of those things and still be fine.
Way to ASuME
So, you stopped reading after the word “minutes”? Because the entire sentence read: “It takes more than three minutes, multiplied by the number of alts people run through the CoT instances.”
I was running 14 alts. Fourteen x Three = Forty Two. A very insignificant amount of time, yes?
Lorethelin, does immersion mean making the world more realistic or does it mean making the world so engaging that you feel immersed in it while playing? To me long boring travel ruins my immersion because it’s not engaging and thus it takes me out of the game world. Sometimes quite literally when I alt tab or walk away during a flight path.
The ship has sailed on the first kind of immersion. WoW is in no way an immersive mmo ‘world’.
I don’t care about your youtube channel not that I will ever click on your videos just the fact that you try to compare classic with bfa is laughable, I can’t wait until you classic folks go back there forever until naxxramas is on farm for 5 years and every caster has atiesh.
Well, I’m watching it, but I’m going to go ahead and say you’re completely delusional. Decreased travel time is incredibly important in a game world that is a few hundred times larger than classic WoW. So even though you did talk about portals, you’re so far off the mark that you’re no longer in the same city as the ballpark.

Yes I can. I can show ME specifically complaining about travel time in WoW breaking the RPGs immersion and world’
I can show you an MMO that embraces portals and flight, successfully.
This game is broken right now in so many ways, with this terrible expansion, players leaving left and right, Guilds crumbling, least amount of content ever, and Blizzard commits time and resources to working on portals.
Portals. I just… 15 bucks plus tax a month to log in and see new portals giving us this ridiculous “illusion” the world is bigger than it is. That’s where our money is going. Portals.
It’s reaching comical levels. Ion and his team are so out of touch it’s like … no words. What can be said. Just no words.
My God what is in the water in Irvine. Someone get Erin Brockovich over there asap.
Yea this alone, if this was the only thing I wouldn’t care. It’s just another nail in the coffin in the game I used to love. I don’t like how the game is now.
Don’t worry, they will add in quest lines midway through the next xpac allowing you to unlock the portals they removed.
It’s not that. Consider, for a moment, that you DO still like places.
For me, the #1 is Silvermoon, which is ironic as I don’t play almost any Horde.
But since the city is a pain in the butt to travel to and/or from, I have zero incentive to go there. The idea of funneling everyone into new hub is stupid. It makes everywhere a ghost town and makes people see LESS variety in the game.
The problem with this change isn’t that “nobody cares about seeing things” but that changes like this discourage people from seeing things. It discourages people from playing. And it makes a terrible impression on new players to see only ghost towns until level cap.
I can almost bet this will be a thing.
If the size of the world is meant to be meaningful, why can I teleport right to a dungeon or raid from anywhere in the game’s open world? Sometimes I can teleport to dungeons I’ve never even seen the entrance to. Poof! I’m inside. Is the journey to that content not meant to be meaningful, too?
Obviously from those numbers, nobody gives a rip about your channel… maybe you should take that hint.
Very good answer. This type of explanation into all changes is what we need more of.
Regardless of if we like the change or not, explaining it thoroughly takes frustration out of it and with it arguments about the purpose of things like this and the game itself.
Glad to see it clearly articulated that the world itself is important to development.
Regardless of what ever else, that is something I agree with and hope to see that sentiment expanded upon in the future.
Keep this sort of thing up.
This response adds absolutely nothing to the problem. The game announced it as a feature to be excited about then the devs pulled the plug on their players. Now the players are mad about it and instead of listening they’re proceeding with the original plan and that is madness to my eyes. Seriously it is difficult not to believe the devs are blind to our pleas in these trying times and honestly the only thing that is required to appease to everyone is to continue having a portal leading to the caverns of time.
Seriously we wouldn’t be having this issue if you guys kept the portal leading to the caverns of time.
“thank you for ticking off a huge part of the player base, numbers of whom have had enough and will be unsubbing. Hope we still have the cash flow to get those classic servers up and running”
“So you’ve come to the forum to complain about a 3 minute flight. 3 minutes. 3 minutes… Think about that. 3 minutes…”
I play the game with 50 toons. So if something takes me 3 minutes MORE then that is 150 minutes per time I want to do that something.
You come to forum to complain about me complaining about my 150 minutes.
This change is not positive in any way. That flight path you suggest does not even make the player interact with the world in any meaningful way. The story is not enhanced in any way, only the amount of time spent to start playing the game, that’s the metric that is increased. That is not positive for the players and that is not fun.
This is a change that they will not back down from, and it is a subtle way to reduce gold from the economy (as less people will underake those activities). People will leave the game as a result and people will not join up to this game, thinking it is a good change. So how does it help the community as a whole?
