Wait, wrong thread…
Eh, what I had to say about this matter I said it in the previous thread. Don’t mask the true saying you want to makes us feel the world is bigger, you just want us to spend (waste in this case) more time playing the game.

Which you will never use once we can fly.
I’m sure they have counts of which portals are currently used by how many players. They didn’t just go and remove portals that were constantly used but moved them to a central location (I don’t PTR so only seen pictures).
I have 1~3 guild cloaks per char, Dalaran rings, stack of Deepholm potions - I can get to most everywhere pretty quick.
Assume the Dalaran hearthstone is staying along with the other things Kaivax mentioned but I have the AT tabard too.
I don’t see a huge problem with this change. We’ll see when it goes Live. But like he said, if something’s a huge problem, they can fix it later.
We can also use the Arathi and Darkshore portals to get to that part of the world too, no? Could use a portal to the west coast of Kalimdor but then there are taxis. If we’re doing old world stuff, we should get there with old world methods.
I’m gonna wait and see before I start freaking out.
There’s going to be a period of a week or two(I forget) where they’re offering free transfers at the end of April, if you do decide to come back.
I HOPE this isn’t the same sort of false fluff that Ion babbles in q and a sessions.
The constant war with the devs and random deceit is what’s starting to become exhausting.
As far as the war goes, you have alliance players literally begging and whining for months before the night warrior scenario was fixed. Then you have these portals. On a more personal level, mages have had it rough: damage charts in mythic raids, pve solo capability and solo Pvp. Nerfs, when we’re on top come swiftly and positive changes are rare and less frequent than other classes that fill similar roles. Just compare how long it took to fix PVP healing vs mana shield for mages. Never getting a chance in the sun feels bad.
As far as deceit goes, i vividly remember Ion claiming that they wanted World Quests to feel “optional” but with the only good source of gold being paragon chests and with emmissary caches being one of the best sources of AP they feel anything but. Also ion claimed the original nightwarrior scenario would be a “fistpump” it wasn’t and i’m glad it changed. These things leave me feeling very sceptical about your commitment to making navigating the world reasonable.
Right now, i feel exhausted and my trust is low. Players should be able to play a game, Have fun and be able to trust the devs have our best interest at heart. Even if the ports are not even touched, i’m hurt that it takes so much effort just to keep the game from sucking. That’s why I’m seriously considering quitting.
I’m not sure if you came up with the “bringbacktheyak” or its just a forum thing i’m missing out on by not being a regular but I appreciate the rhyming and the sentiment of it.
Glad to see it clearly articulated that the world itself is important to development.
Regardless of what ever else, that is something I agree with and hope to see that sentiment expanded upon in the future.
Metro
Right now, another MMO is in explosive growth using the direct opposite approach to the one you are discussing.
Explain THAT.
Hahahaha. Oh man, you just explained WHY Blizzard made this decision without even realizing it.
Nobody cares about your garbage video. Go post it on the classic forums clown. garbage video, garbage youtube channel.
Exactly.
IF this lie about making the world bigger were true, then ALL summoning stones would removed and there would be no group finder teleport to dungeons/raids.
so we know factually this has nothing to do with making the world bigger or our game better.
I got a months pay that says this is a distraction from something bigger and worse.
Love you too <3
I read this hoping to see something approximating a dialogue. I instead received a devsplaining about why what I want - respect for my playtime - is actually a bad thing to want.
This isn’t 2004. I have four kids and a full-time job. Your imaginary benefits to making places harder to reach - or gating that access behind grinding reps/drops - is, you know, imaginary. And tiring. Please tell the people who decided they know better than me about how I want to spend my time they are wrong.
if these teleportation methods are so prevalent and readily available, do they not make the word smaller as well?
Think about people with 10 alts.
If all someone does in the game is run 10 alts through Caverns of Time content, week after week after week, and is so bent out of shape over the extra minutes times the # of alts this is now going to be, well… It may be time to go talk to someone about that.
devsplaining
This is not good.
The ‘world’ is 8 expansions, not a single classic world.
Deleting portals instead of improving/increasing it you are in fact making it beyond inconvenient. You are driving away even more of those who follow emergent play styles and they are your easiest customers. I posted the following earlier and it holds true even more now.
“It boggles my mind to be honest.
Highest cost: raiders/dungeon runners new content required constantly, generally cyclic subs.
Med cost: pvp…requires balance updates cyclically, not much content demanded, less cyclic sub than raiders.
Lowest cost: emergent players, make their own fun, reuse old content, generally constant sub.
Who is being driven out? The least demanding, lowest cost, highest profit players. It makes zero sense.”
At the very least throw the emergent play style players a bone.
“Repeatable weekly quest. Complete and receive a teleport stone with 5 charges. Teleports you (and group) to any summoning stone or inn you have previously visited & locked in as a choice at said stone/inn.”
You are going to drive away even more players by completely negating their desire to make use of your world, to them it is a big sandbox that requires --very little from you–.
Disclaimer: These changes do not have an effect on me except as a symptom of a disease that is making this game less populated.
(Sorry for quoting myself}
“you’ll play how we want you to play”
blizz apparently also thinks alt-tabbing on the horrendous FPs is where we will be meeting and socializing with all sorts of different people, and that seeing other people getting on a gryph will make the world seem “bigger”
(Green) Jeeeeeeeeeesus Blizzard.
I have no response. I can’t even think of anything that will get through your heads.
Nothing we say ever does, so why should I even bother?
You guys always remove fun.
You guys always remove convenience.
You guys always fix things that aren’t broken.
The only thing I can really do anymore is sit here and shake my head.
Your design choices are baffling.
people
glad I’m not in any part of that people… this only wants me to not even level the new AR and I got them MONTHS ago.
each one has their own way to play the game I can understand that but how can you defend changes like this? I’m already sick of seeing some places I force myself to do so to reach my goals.
Clearly the people constantly defending their awful changes and glorifying everything they do don’t try to understand others but their own opinions.
Why? Who cares how they play the game. They are happy with their amount of alts.
I just want these atrocious decisions and changes the developers make to stop. What I am doing by protesting my disagreement, in actuality is me begging Blizzard to recognize how fragile my interest is in this game, how poorly I think of them as a company, and how much each of these infuriating changes pushes me further out the door.
I guess they picked a good time to announce this, seeing as my play time expires 18 hours from now. Perhaps I should be thanking them.
