All of this isn’t either applicable to the US or isn’t the experience in the US.
For example back in 2013 or 2014 in the first round of connections, they connected the low pop dentarg EU to tarren mill EU, which was high if not even full, and nowadays if I check a single zone on who I find 49 people from tarren mill, 1 from dentarg!
They tried again in russia with razuvius + galakrond recently, low + high, but connection failed, and then again in germany with mal’ganis (low) + blackhand (full) but failed again.
As far as I know, these kind of aggressive connections were much rarer in US than EU, cause if I go check population sides your biggest connected realms so far are way smaller than the biggest servers, while in EU you will see connected realms much closer to the top.
As for the ones who complained about rares, it’s a logical reaction, I had it too at first, but actually the rare hunt will not be impacted significantly, cause there are cross realm zones active.
Rares are a very valid concerns on some of our servers because RP servers don’t have CRZ in old content.
But RP servers without people suck in general, its a real sad state for a server to be in when its just seen as an easy rare camp/BMAH server… RP servers also need people to drive the RP, right now beyond the big 3 in the region they are just mostly seen as a server you hop to for rares and that’s not good for the game as a whole no matter which region your in… (it’s even more pronounced in EU because they have way more dead RP servers compared to US)

I like my dead RP servers. And I wouldn’t think there would be a shortage of players for RP on even the deadest RP realms right now - can’t RP be done with a few people? It isn’t like you need 25 for a raid group.

Is there any plan for another merge with Dawnbringer-Madoran? We are a medium pop and I think we would benefit from more players on our realm.
RP servers have crz in old content!
At least, admittedly I don’t have US experience, but in the EU all the english RP servers are together, all the german RP servers are together with the exception of die aldor, and all french RP servers are together.
I think you may not notice a lot of people in the world cause obviously RP servers are in crz with less servers than normal realms, but I have a hard time believing every single of your RP servers has a different crz to each other.
Are you sure you never see any people from a RP server that isn’t connected with yours out in the world?
You seem very expert about population matters: that you know of, are american RP servers special, as in are they completely excluded from the crz? Cause since a few years in eu almost all of them are in crz with each other.
Also, did connections work? I saw all 4 realms have the same items on BMAH, so on that side they should have, unable to check more than that.
I have gotten all the warbringers mounts on a RP server and the only people I saw were from the connected server. I spent a couple of weeks farming them and rarely even saw one other person.
RP are CRZ’d for current content but not for most of the old zones.

Yes, they’re good for warbringers and such, I’m gonna have to check on the starting area I think to see if I find anyone, if you really have no crz at all on the RP servers you’re much better off than us when it comes to rares.
I presume even if you DO have crz on RP you’ve got to have several cause you have a lot more RP servers than us, and they’re all the same language (or almost), so if they were all in crz together you would most definitely see people, but maybe if there’s 3-4 groups they can still feel particularly empty.
Also looks like connections all went through, I had already checked BMAH and it was perfectly linked, but now I actually went on char selection screen, garrosh is now marked new players like aegwynn etc., and the other 3 realms part of the connection are now high pop, which was kind of the expectable result, every single connection ended up high pop so far, the only one that maybe would’ve been medium is garona, but delayed.
That’s all I can check ofc, guild and mailbox issues are stuff only the players in those realms will notice.
They originally had about 4 CRZ groups for RP servers but they decided a few years ago to eliminate CRZ in the old content for RP servers. There were complaints about sharding for a RP event at the Argent Tournament and they changed things around then.
I was leveling up a human character on Blackwater Raiders for weeks and never saw a single other person out leveling.
And it screwed up all of my guild events, forcing me to go and edit every single one of them to adjust the time. And now I have to waste the precious little text space we get for descriptions explaining that 5:30 realm time is PDT/MST, 6:30 MDT, 7:30 CDT, and 8:30 EDT - and hope the people actually open the calendar entry to see it. They should have tried to find another MDT server to join us with instead of making people who have worked with Mountain time as their realm time since the game launched adjust to another realm’s time. Some might think it is just a number, but it means something to people and that matters.

Nope. Take a look at the bug forums. It happened as a result of the mergers to a number of people, who rightly reported it as a bug. An exploit is when people take advantage of a bug. These folks are not.
Providing information that ‘x’ happens in a manner that encourages people to take advantage of a bug is an exploit.
Ahh, right, well, I envy you american players, we could do with more separate RP servers too, we only have 4 effectively.
And yes, the duplicate bug is annoying, it’s damned if you do, damned if you don’t: if I put example a tcg mount and get it duplicated and get banned it’s bad, if I don’t and others do and don’t get banned it’s still bad.
They should just fix stuff like this.
I agree and people should have those items removed - my main’s auction house is just flooded with uncanny gear now.

Ahah, yes, I was thinking about you when I heard garona got delayed: you said often it was one of the lowest realms US, the connection was also the smallest, maybe would’ve only hit medium compared to the others that hit high, and on top of that delayed!

I moved my guild off Garona shortly before more realm connections were announced.
Still have friends there tho. Laughing sadly at this turn of events for them.
Yeah, hopefully we get connected in the next batch, in a week or two.
Yes, as far as I see it should be done, I recommend 1) to check in a different population label, it’s high now, not medium or low, depending on what it was, and 2) if it shows you have no chars on blackrock log it anyway, should fix it.
Also wanted to say good job blizzard this time, obviously I can’t know if there were guild and mail problems again, all I can see is if realms were actually merged, and aside from the delay on garona, they managed NINE successful connections tonight, 4 in us and 5 in eu.
