I wouldnt compare player housing to the garrison 1:1.
Garrisons were supposed to be a lot more interesting initially, but regardless, people just want a house and/or trophy room to hang around with friends at.
Its a harmless request until you smash all of the player power and content of the next two years into it.

In a mmo, places that let you express yourself plays a huge part of the social structure. In fact it is part of the key pillars.
To say it is a waste of time is silly. A new raid tier is a bigger waste of time, because the gear and the zone itself will be tossed away in future content. But housing, and expression will outlast it. Meaning that development time on it is far more rewarding than a dungeon or a raid. Even a zone.

He âknows it allâ because he started in legion is all I understood. He doesnât âfarmâ transmog, he just farms what he likes, but that is a stark contrast to what he stated. Iâm not sure he can make a coherent argument.
Because other games have done it beautifully. We know blizzard is capable.

This hurt my brain a bit to try and read, but why does anyone have to prove the negative and positives to you? That is mostly subjective, and we clearly know were you stand on the issue.
IMO this would be no more costly then any new feature. They can start out with a couple spots in each major city that are instanced for homes. Add two new professions, one crafting and one gathering, and make a new category in the AH. If successful then they can add more homes and items with major patches and expansion like they do with everything else.
If it fails then it gets left behind like they do with every expansion. All dusty and old, with seldom a soul that visits. Give us a handy pile of incentives to focus everything on the new expansion, almost as easy as deleting.

Youâve made a mistake that they want it private. Now you can set things up to limit who can enter, but that isnât the same thing as garrisons where you had to actively let people in. Investigate what people have done in other zones with their personal zones and how that added to the game. Garrisons were flawed because they were personal by default instead of being shard by default. How much better would they have been if your garrison was your guild project that maybe you had a little corner that belonged to you rather than it was just your little place to do nothing?

There seem to be a few posters that are that way, think they know all and think their opinions are facts and anyone who disagrees is wrong.

Grats OP, you win the stupidest thread award.
Unless you can play the auction house like a champ in FF XIV youâll never have enough gil to afford the initial purchase.
On Moonguard everyone can have their own version of the Goldshire Inn for lots of extra fun times.

Honestly, even if it made that mistake, but released in like 2019, I think Wildstar might still be around. I loved that game, but its format was in DIRECT competition with what I was doing in WoW at the time. I wasnât going to do serious raiding in 2 MMOs at the same time. Thatâs the singular reason I set Wildstar aside.
Iâd be really curious to see where the game would be if it dropped during BfA or Shadowlands where people were very vocally unhappy with WoW.
why not just do it how eso and swtor do it buy with ingame gold or use shop currency so for wow itd be wow token or ingame gold .

Gil is the in game currency but it takes several million to buy the house and that is a tall order if you donât sell things on the AH.
It would give us something to do when weâre sick to death of grinding the same dungeons all season.
I like collections in general. Would be fun.

As a homeless gnome living on the streets, I would like to have a place other than the braziers and stoves of random houses to cook the corpses of those I murder.

Yep. And none of this âgo find a plot of land if youâre luckyâ bs. It needs to be phased so anyone can buy it just from a vendor and not pray the open world has land.
Also, the reason Final Fantasy has housing drama is due to having to buy plots of land. ArcheAge made a similar mistake with all of it being open world and not phased and people could steal your land and your farm and crops in that game.

100% this, and it could have many more applications including wardrobes and such for transmog farmers, profession areas, decoration with seasonal themes with unique rewards for the community to participate in game at capitals, trophy racks or other placements inside their home. Arenas players can construct for guild events, and even for training purposes for those who want to spar with guildies and learn more without interference. There is a whole boat load of things they can do to add to the community aspect of the game.
