I had no trouble making enough gold before to buy a token or two a week easy.
But that was at least a year ago.
I dont worry about old raid gold. I farm Mogs and Pets from old content. Pets seem to always sell well. Some of those mists mogs went for 25k or more a pop.
But that was likely when there was still a lot of gold in the economy, so I have no clue what would happen now. Theyve killed my will to play, let alone try to farm for gold anymore.
Callings are awful GPH. You’d be better off grinding multiple characters up, and farming your table.
I wouldn’t bother now op its to high i wouldn’t waste gold on it now ill just pay the sub instead imho.
Selling your gold for game time, unless you’re truly honestly deriving fun and enjoyment, is simply one of the lowest paying jobs in existence. Only those with absolutely no means of procuring gainful employment would see return in dedicating time to gold farming they didn’t enjoy.
I know in my case, I like managing my mission tables and collecting augments because it also levels up my followers and I love seeing my little “Facebook Mission” buddies coming back with stuff, but I would never do a calling I found annoying for gold.
A 300g world quest is worth LESS than a single piece of chewing gum that you could bum off a classmate. I just want to put that in some kind of a context that you might understand.
Just for some context, you’re bragging out making 20-40$ a week, more like 15-30$ if you’re using those tokens to buy game time. Unless you’re honestly, truly having a good time, that’s a pittance for a weekly income.
If you do a good job about it, you could make that much just mowing one lawn a week, and get some exercise and a nice tan to boot.
It really boggles my mind when people brag about making a nickel here, a quarter there. Even putting in the effort to sell something for a couple bucks is not a lot.
I guess my final thought on this is that at least I’m glad people are convinced this is a good deal. Gold in this game is relatively inexpensive to buy with real money and doesn’t have as much social stigma as it has in other games. If less people were interested in farming gold, the real money price for gold would probably be substantially higher and that’d be bad for people who are more than happy to drop a 20$ to pay for their flasks for a patch cycle.

Just play the game and farm a little. Look around at what is selling on your AH.
Some old world mats go for a mint and are easy enough to farm as long as no one else is out there at the same time.
Since we are talking >TOKEN< price here…NOT chewing gum or the cost of mowing a lawn, lmao…yes, over the course of a month you will still easily be able to make enough gold to buy a token and pay for your subscription if thats what youre trying to do.
it is absolutely possible. is it a good use of your time? only you can make that decision.
Easily if you’re any good at getting stock to sell on the AH.
I’m a bit torn on buying tokens with gold. On one hand it’s handy because what are you going to use gold for anyways. However on the other, you’re farming gold for Blizzard to make $20.00 per token you purchase.
If gold comes naturally enough that you can keep a sub going it might be ok depending on how you want to look at it. But if you have to go out of your way to make gold you are working for Blizzard in the long run. Again it depends on how you want to look at it.
I find this statement confusing.
How is paying a sub “paying someone to play the game for [you]”?
I agree, since there are tons of ways to make gold in the game and you haven’t done any simple research on it. Probably best to just quit for a while and do something more enjoyable.

I was doing so before my recent bout of existential dread. It took me about 15 days to get a token with maybe an hour or two a day of fishing, cooking, skinning, and farming meats
(all on one character, my warrior with 197 covenant gear and a conquest shield lol)

if all you’re doing in-game is grinding gold to pay to grind gold another month - why are you even playing?
you’re working for less than minimum wage in a third world country at that rate.
this is crazy to me
15 hours to make the equivalent of $15 
you could run errands for an elderly neighbor for 1/15th of that time to make your monthly sub fee.
idk. I get that everyone’s situation is different and everyone values money/time differently, but I personally think my time is worth far more than $1/hour.

Originally it was to protest my sub fee but still be able to play TBC but god I can’t even stand to log on haha

I do not understand at all why people complain. There like zero things to do besides weekly raiding and mythic. I do my dailies every day and end of the week I usually end up with about 46- 56k in gold and that not including what I sell at au. Making gold is actually easy. I do not know if it for other players but if do dailies you get 7*1800 or more gold. With three characters it goes up fast. Personally, I wait till token prices go down. That being said I still have tons of them left. So i just give gold to my kids. Who spend it like water.

Just raise alts to 60 is the easiest no brain required way. Each alt doing nothing else other than the daily calling will make a minimum 48K gold per month, so you only need 4 toons to make a token every month.
I don’t care if you don’t care.
There’s a mistaken notion on this forum that if I “reply” to you, that I’m talking only to you specifically, and that was zero-percent what was happening.
