Real Tender For Trader's Tender: A Cash Shop Suggestion

Now, I already know some people will appreciate the idea, while others will outright shred me and call me a shill. Fortunately, it’s only a topic and everyone is entitled to an opinion. Yes, even the ones that differ from mine.

So, for a limited time only, The Enchanted Sweeper Bundle is available in the BattleNet store offering two colored riding brooms, and 600 Trader’s Tenders. That got me thinking. If Tenders are basically being tossed in free with a couple of $15 mounts, why not capitalize on the idea.

So hear me out Blizzard. Much the same way Bioware added Cartel Coins to SW:tOR, these tenders are also an exchange currency for purely optional and cosmetic items. There is NOTHING you can get on the Trading Post that would ever give you any sort of game advantage. But, if you are already broaching the concept of tossing Tenders in with other items, why not simply add them as well?

People can still farm for Tenders the old FREE way and spend as they please. However, there are a great many who have already proven they will spend cash in the shop for a mount, pets, other services, etc. Why not add one more thing to the Shop List and let the collectors with cash enjoy a few extra cosmetic benefits. Tenders could be sold in staged packs, be 100% optional, and allow people a variety of choices. Whether you just need a few more to get that one special item, or you want to buy it all… this is the solution!

As you can see below, I have mocked up a Shop page already to illustrate how it could look, and example packages and pricing. You are always looking for more revenue streams, and those of us who have revenue to burn will gladly support this venture. Personally, I don’t want everything in the Trading Post, but would be nice to not max out and still only afford 3 items each month.

So there you have it. A 100% completely OPTIONAL cash selection for cosmetic Tender which still limits the content done by players and not forcing more game time for extra tenders. Instead, this would be similar to the Token or Pet/Mount experience where players can simply pick up extra Tenders for some extra cash. You win, we win, and the minority of voices who would actually boycott this would be negligible. Are you ready to impress Microsoft and Stock Holders with a bigger profit margin? Then this choice is a clear W!

Not only is this the absolute laziest design that looks like it was taken out of a 2010 mobile game, but you didn’t even bother to make sure that the numbers were correct, 1k costs 4.5x the 250 purchase. I award you no points for this bait.

Probably one of the better suggestions regarding tenders I’ve heard.

I’m not huge on the cash shop regardless, but I don’t see much harm in allowing us to splurge on cosmetics.

Whether it be by cash buying tenders, or spending excess tenders in the cash shop. Doesn’t sound bad to me.

OP. This is a great mock up. I would say this is great bait too but I actually support microtransactions.

Oh it is FAR from bait. I want something like this in the shop and would prolly buy 10k tenders at a time the way I buy 5 tokens at a time. It is only “bait” if I am trolling. I’m serious. But folks will think I am stirring the pot. I can’t be held responsible for folks getting offended over an idea.

Personally, I don’t like it, but I kinda forfeit about the cash shop activism when it went too far years ago.

I’d ignore the pundits.

I honestly wish they’d put gear in the shop already so I can just buy it at the beginning of the season vs waiting weeks for the right drops / vaults.

I don’t mind tenders being a part of occasional promotions. Though they did say they won’t sell it by itself.

I don’t hate this.

Though, with this idea, those with enough real world money will be able to buy everything on the Post every month if they want. While those who cannot do that will have to make due with what they can gather in game. So, I would propose the addition of more tendies available to obtain via the current system of completing activities in game.
