I want to reactivate my subscription with gold, i need 131,575, and i have enough split up among different characters, but not all on 1 character. For some reason the button to resub with gold is grayed out.
hm… i have 90k on an alliance toon and 70 something thousand on a horde toon… i wonder if they’d still be able to do it
It can be taken from multiple toons but they all have to be on the same realm. Gold in the mail or a guild bank, doesn’t count. It must be in your characters bags.
If you do have gold waiting in the mail or in a guild bank, submit a ticket to billing asking for a day of game time to retrieve it. They will likely grant the request as long as you do not make a habit of it.
If you believe you have enough, make sure you are using the button on the character select screen for the realm to purchase the game time token.
thank you guys for the feedback, i’ll submit a ticket then
Also, keep in mind:
While each character on a realm will contribute gold to the price of the Token, you may receive an error if this would zero out the gold for any character. Due to the constant fluctuation of the token prices, if you only have just enough gold to purchase the token, you must log into the game to make the purchase.
I personally feel that the gold limit cap should be removed. As it stands I cannot make enough gold to reactivate my account due to the gold piece limit cap.
I’m not sure how raising the gold limit equates to you being able to earn enough gold for a token. Currently, the gold limit per character is in the millions.
That said, if you wish to suggest a change, you’ll want to use the in-game suggestion feature or post in the General forums.
Not when you don’t have an active account. The gold piece limit is only 10 GP if you don’t have an active account.
Well, yeah, it’s not the intent that you can grind enough gold for a token while playing for free.
So if after having a subscription fo over a year, and being lets say 1,000 GP short of being able to get a WoW Token you’re just SoL? Then what’s the point of buying game time with a WoW token if you can’t make the gold to do so? I can buy a 1 month subscription, make a million gold in that time (I’m not that good at gold farming, it’s just an arbitrary number) and then never spend a dime of real world money again, but I can’t do a 6 month money grind on low level toons to make the gold I need to reactivate my account? For a straight up Starter Account I can see and understand the GP limit cap but not when you have a full account on file.
Just to touch on this, the reason ya able to log onto your account at all with no game time on it is due to Blizz making unpaid accounts act like starter accounts with all the limits to them.
If you really only needed a small amount, billing might offer you a free day as a courtesy. Not sure if they would in this circumstance, but you could ask. Beyond that, we’re back to what Perl said: this is how it works; to request a change you’d need to post in the appropriate forum or use the in game suggestion function.
It’s not a full account if you don’t have game time.
The fact that Blizzard lets you play as a veteran account at all is perhaps more generous than it should be, and definitely more generous than it could be.
Does anyone know how they decide which of your toons’ bags the gold is pulled from first?
For example, I had like 300k across my toons one on realm. It said I have plenty to resub with ~150k leftover, but then the gold was just automatically pulled from who knows where (I haven’t logged into all toons to check yet).
It gets divided up between all the characters on that realm more or less
Just to put a bit more like on this: when they pull the gold from the toons on a given server, they won’t zero out all the toons for the token. So, if you do have the gold for it, but if it’ll leave you with nothing, they it’ll most likely won’t go through.
Couple of questions.
I assume not, but can you use the resub for gold feature if you already have a token in the inventory of a character?
I believe the gold has to be on a single realm but does it have to be all on the same faction?
Is there any possibility in the future to make it use gold on different realms rather than being limited to single realm?
- Depends upon what type of token it is.
If you paid real money for it, it can only be auctioned for gold. As the token costs $20 US and a month of time sells for $15, there wouldn’t be any point to it anyway.
Only if you bought it from the auction house for ingame gold, could it be used to purchase time.

The gold will be drawn from both factions on a single realm.

Blizzard has made no announcements regarding obtaining gold for a token from multiple realms. I have seen no requests for this capability in the past couple of years.
