RE: Classic

“RE” style reboots have been fairly popular with gaming. The idea is they take a classic game and pretty much reboot it with better graphics and systems etc.

It would be great to see the next era of classic to get this kind of treatment.

I imagine basically all the QOL of retail with the updated graphics and UI but with Classic era dungeons and raids.

Some major changes would be adding in Flex Raiding and Personal Loot.

I would love to raid molten core with 10 people for example.

Yea Warcraft REforged did so well.

Personally part of the charm of classic is the old graphics and models. As long as there was an option for the old graphics.

Probably the only change I’d make for a Classic 2.0 is 10/25 raiding, or even flex. 40 man raiding was brutal in Classic, even with COVID helping it out in a way. I couldn’t imagine 40 man raiding again.

this not be reforged. that, how that happened no clue really.

Ascension is like this…and it can be nice.

the retail core and classic core code were similar enough even the mod team for ascension could drop it in.

With the TOC update…blizzard is even making that the same. It in theory would be even more plug n play potentially.

Did you see how ugly Retail characters look now? Or diablo 2 remastered? The original models are fine imo

the remastered games also come with a new box purchase…

let me guess, you want it for free, though, right?

I’d love to have modern graphics. A toggle on/off.
Same for transmog. And heck, even other extra features that can be simply toggled on and off.

Now, I firmly believe that most people would utilize all QoL, despite being against them in Classic.

Classic just run for 3 xpacs. We still got half of wrath left though. Numbers are down. Motivation is low. I’ve put more hours into Cities Skylines in the past 2 months than into WoW.

Just boring at this point. I can’t even bring myself to level an alt with 75% exp bonus at this point. Same hamster wheel. Same quests. Same 80 gear up grind. Either solo play or mindless AV grind.

This is why I look forward to Cataclysm/MoP/WoD and all features it has to bring. Account wide stuff is huge for me. It took me over 200 Anzu kills to get the mount. I wanna ride it on my other toons too. I also kinda miss RIO lol. Playing alts is a pain right now (for me).

Either way, to each their own.
I look forward to what dev team can bring forward in the future. I’m all for #MoreChanges approach. Ironically, if you want “Classic” experience, a lot of things need to change to make it feel FRESH. Right now “Classic” is simply content. Not the gameplay. To make it feel “Fresh”, it all needs to be new and have this element of figuring out HOW to do stuff. What the meta is etc etc etc. This is where Retail shines over classic imho.,

Something something retail bad, need to have outdated everything for the game to be “good” yadda yadda
All we need for the game to become perfect is blizzard copying what OSRS does with their poll system.

This is a deeply unpopular opinion across multiple games.

Prepare for a TSUNAMI of “No” lol.

Well deserved “No” at that.

I agree. I would play it. I got burnt out on classic pretty quick. Because of some QOL things. And graphics and stuff too. Sounds… little things to me, like taking 45 second to drink for mana made it not playable for me.

When it comes to complaints about Classic vs Retail i think they fit neatly in 2 catergories:

  1. QoL/Graphics
  2. Systems

I dont have much if any complaints if they want to add mount tabs and update graphics, redesign spec like prot paladin and boomkin to be viable, give us new sets like DPS warrior tier. Wouldnt be a bad thing as long as the core systems dont get messed with. You level to 60, dungeon grind, consumable grind, and raid.

What stopped me playing Retail was the endless ways they came up with to keep the grind going. Having some dailies to do for gold, rep, completionism is fine through WotLK, but then they made it mandatory to feed “engagement metrics” and it ceased being engaging as a game and became a daily chore to keep a character “current”, with catch up mechanics thay would never let you actually catch up, but still in validate the effort you put in while it was “current”.

Missions starting from garrison in WoD to get raid gear.
Grinding legendaries and getting skunked by drops in Legion.
Titanforging in MoP so your BiS was never BiS and you had to keep going to get the same gear just a little bit better.
Battle for Azerite.
Whatever B.S. is there now… I dont know or care becuase I stopped playing retail.

When you run a key is it becuase the dungeon is fun and you want to push the highest you can? Or are you just there to tick that I did my 15 or 20? key this week so now i can go back to whatever it was I would have rather been doing?

I though I wanted graphical updates in WoW before, then we got them in retail and while some are fine/ok, the vast majority are just awful looking. I’ll pass on another one of those thanks.

It’s really bad when your graphical update looks worse than if it had just been left alone.

That’s literally Retail.
