The world became barren as soon as flying mounts went in.
If it wasn’t a resource node or a pack needed for a daily quest, good luck finding people.
The world isn’t less barren because you see people on a flight path to the dungeon, especially when they are going there on a flying mount straight from Dalaran.
I disagree that LFD made the world more barren. Not having LFD in doesn’t get people out of Dalaran doing things.
It just makes them spend more time in Dalaran looking for a group.
It’s easy to argue that LFD helps to get people out of Dalaran more, as the teleportation aspect of it meant that you could be out doing anything else while the queue was running.
When the grouping is manual, and you have to fly there, you are much more bound to stay ready to head over to the dungeon.
Yeah, those players that would be queueing for a 5 man just log off because grouping up is a pain in the neck and there’s nothing to do outside of the few daily hubs.
Care to expand on what is so convenient in retail?
What is convenient about:
Time gated renown
CDs on changing traits
Getting a key busted because you didn’t clear fast enough
Raids tuned for the top 5% with addons
Inability to swap covenants without penalty
Extreme RNG loot
Maps that aren’t even connected to run through
Time gating flying
Restrictions on trading loot to guild members that need it
Extremely expensive legendaries
RNG dependent dps
