I absolutely CANNOT stand this whole GDKP thing. I’m not buying gold from a website. I don’t have time to actively commit to a guild’s raid time. My schedule is not stable. I’m not too fond of the thought of buying multiple 70 boosts, but it sure beats no RDF. The end of WOTLK and into Cata was so much fun leveling alts through RDF (especially with heirlooms).
Every single person that plays this game has a different schedule in life, and yet, every single person could participate in RDF. Through RDF you will see more play time from hardcore and casual players, therefore more subscriptions because WOTLK is a time so many enjoy.
The social atmosphere is “link your logs”, and WOTLK will be “link your achievement” without RDF. I just want to work my 10hr shifts at the hospital and come home and Queue for a random dungeon and get maybe an hour of stress-relieving gameplay.
Thanks for reading my rant - A Casual Player with an active work/home life.
RDF isnt an anti discrimination tool. It eases your ability to form groups, its not an actual fix for negative or xenophobic attitudes.
Perhaps your point is a higher percentage of less discriminatory folk will use the tool and thus allowing you dodge most of the min/max mower blades but at the end of the day your community is still pretty lame.
But if you can convince yourself otherwise through a convenience appendage like RDF and get whatever it is you’re striving for excluding friendships then I guess RDF would be doing its job.
Avoiding the Min/Max crowd would be a blessing for many, especially the casual players. Kind of hard to Min/Max when you’ve got limited time. For you to go as far and say the casual player crowd is “Still lame” just shows a reflection of yourself.
I don’t see the min/max crowd as lame. RDF wouldn’t slow down the min/max crowd, could only help it in a way of boosting player participation. I already have plenty of “online” friends through my 15 years of playing this game.
RDF is nothing but a positive experience around the board. Every 1 in 100 dungeons you might get a really crap situation. Regardless, it’s rare.
I meant the community overall not just one portion of it but yeah, since you went there, a real case could be made for the casual crowd feeling a little entitled and selfish (ie lame) in asking for a convenience tool to automate part of the experience on the grounds that it would really benefit their very personal situation. All of which amounts too ‘it would be too much work to make it work for me so please reward me for my hardship.’ Literally what youre saying.
You just said in your OP they provide no social atmosphere and treat you like a number. But youre still cool with it, its not their fault they behave this way. I guess its the games fault for being anti casual.
Huh, weird that it would be excluded then. I guess all the years of observation and hindsight are wrong after all. Too bad Blizz was too greedy to warn us about this unfortunate eventuality in August of 2019 in the days before launching Classic. I guess we really are victims.
Can’t feel selfish and entitled for something that was in the game as it was. RDf would also benefit every single player therefore making it a better experience for everyone, including Blizzard.
Now you are putting words in my mouth to try and justify your side of the argument LOL. Not once did I say they provide no social atmosphere or that they treat me like a number. I was explaining how I would like to Queue for a dungeon and just have an hour of fun. (please don’t make me repeat what I’ve already said)
Yeah because Blizzard definitely told us we wouldn’t have RDF in WOTLK classic in 2019. Jesus, you are just going off on a tangent now and not even providing solid evidence to your point. In hindsight WOTLK was enjoyable for most and RDF helps WHEN THE CONTENT is entertaining.
I don’t know what to tell you man. Blizzard is not purposefully oppressing us by not putting in RDF come Wrath. They simply have their own vision and it doesn’t jive with everyone’s perspective or personal situation.
Im pro RDF myself and almost the same reasons as you. Im a loner casual BG hero who cant devote 15 or more hours a week anymore. Im going to be doing Wrath 5 mans with a pvp spec, in pvp gear with pvp gems and enchants. It takes a whole lot more effort to pull that off with a group I have to find for myself than it would be with an automated one button queue.
As someone like yourself and I, it feels horrible how they can just turn their backs on the players with our playstyle. I was only hoping that maybe by being another person to get my voice heard it might help sway the curve towards RDF being added. I appreciate your conversation, I really do.
I want to level an ally rogue on a horde dominant server so I can terrorize my friends / guildmates (you could say RDF would lead to more ‘social interactions’ in my case).
Not a fan of questing, and with being an ally on a horde server it’s not going to be easy either, nor will making dungeon groups even be possible as there’s barely anyone to group with.
They seem pretty firm on it at the moment but Im simply holding onto ‘never say never’.
Wrath Classic hasnt happened yet beyond its current beta stage. There’s a whole bunch of time between now and the ICC patch and at that point maybe they will have seen something that changes their minds.
i don’t care about your IRL schedule
it is not my problem
if you don’t have time to play, don’t
your schedule does not mean crappy features like RDF should be in the game
simple as
It sounds like to me you want to play a game you have no time for, maybe you just shouldn’t play? There are people in my guild that either have a job or an infant to take care of or both and yet they still raid every week with full consumes and everything while also playing throughout the week.
Having LFD/RDF in will do nothing about people asking you to link your achievement, who would ask you to do that for a dungeon? The people running PUG’s will still ask you to link it so that’s kinda redundant. As I said above it just sounds like you have no time to play which isn’t the games fault with or without LFD.
Seems stupidly obvious to me but perhaps you cant see the irony in saying the community is ummm problematic so please give me a tool that puts me in a group with the very same people I just condemned much more easily than it currently is.
The OP thinks it will somehow prevent people from being jerks to others and thats not what RDF was designed to specifically tackle.
Again you typed a lot with 0 point being made, and 0 counter-argument being constructed…
There is more toxic behavior from Manually Created Groups than Automated “First-come First-serve”… this is very logical. The dungeons in wrath are stupid easy (designed that way because of RDF). You don’t need meta 3 million GS, you don’t need all mages… you can run it with 3 rogues a disc priest and a feral druid. Literally easy runs… and as it should be… BECAUSE DUNGEONS AREN’T END-GAME AND DO NOT MATTER.
I SAY AGAIN — THERE IS ZERO HARM FROM ALLOWING PEOPLE TO EASILY GROUP TO DO DUNGEONS! WHO CARES IF SOMEONE CAN RUN 2 DUNGEONS AND HOUR INSTEAD OF SPENDING AN HOUR LOOKING FOR 1 DUNGEON…
Diablo3 initially launched with a similar issue. The solution there was to just completely remove the AH and make gold essentially soul bound. Different game but similar problem, pay to win.
