RDF is inevitable

I don’t have a problem with the balance changes being in, removing core WOTLK features (RDF) is where the problem is.

I would even support RDF only for classic and tbc dungeons. We ahve to fly to them in Wrath. I mainly want RDF to lvl more alts.

Did you forget the part where I said blizzard should consolidate low-pop realms or make LFG cross realm for low-pop realms exclusively?

I am a purist. There are some definite problems that exist and you shouldn’t say “Well I know Rets and DKs are going to rip people apart. I guess we’ll just have to accept it for several months!”. The current problems people are clamoring for when it comes to RDF is that they’re use to retail convenience and/or have no better solutions to fixing the server queue troubles. So they all default to easy retail bandaid fix rather than fixing the core problems. It’s no different from the Horde vs. Horde BGs or the people wanting to play TBC Day1 but, have no desire to level in Vanilla so they boost. I know… I know… actual work makes people sick around here.

I would find that disappointing but still much better than no RDF.

Gatekeepers stay mad. LFD is coming

Because they want to time gate you. So they implemented pathfinder, so they can time gate you.

Big reason I haven’t played retail since.

Did you see way above where I said the tool sucks and I refuse to use it along with many, many people I play with. I am all for helping low pop realms but don’t give me the takes away from the world being empty bs cause I was there for all of wrath and made several friends using RDF while, guess it, out in the world lvling alts.

RDF isn’t a core feature. The dance studios were a core feature offerred during WotLK prerelease. If we should be clamoring about content not being there it would be the dance studios.

I agree, I want RDF for some casual pve content just hop in and go and for leveling. I also understand the reason why people don’t want RDF too. What I dislike the most about RDF is maybe the instant teleportation in some aspects and the cross realm aspect. I view random dungeon finder as the same way I view battlegrounds, they are casual content. Even heroic dungeons are casual content in wrath. Its why in retail, M+ is more of a group making system and that even comes with many flaws of excluding certain classes and specs, but it’s understandable. It’s similar to rated battlegrounds, it’s no longer casual - it’s serious and you want to choose who you play with. I think what breaks the immersion is cross realm, seeing other player’s realm name next to their next name is a big gripe of mine with retail or the asterisk next to a person’s name in parentheses(*).

I’m still kind of torn about cross realm because in an ideal mmo world, it would simulate real life, you can talk and play with anyone. Maybe region differences are necessary because of technological limitations with ping/latency, but that’s the direction retail wow is heading now. If they just hid player’s server names or put the server name on its own seperate row of data instead of being besides the player name, then it would look a lot cleaner and more immersive. The other downside is very large communities make people feel like small fish in massive oceans. According to Dunbar’s number, 150 is the number of people can handle social relationships with.

I think there’s a lot more things that ruined the social aspect of the retail mmo than RDF. LFR may be a bigger culprit, flying mounts being another huge thing that just made the world way too easy to avoid other players in pvp and in friendly ways, questing being relatively easy (no group quests), mob tagging, etc. There’s positives and drawbacks and it’s hard to rethink how we can keep the positives of classic, convenience of retail, while still ensuring a social mmo world. In some ways, RDF even does harm questing because now there’s less people out in the world.

You can’t make friends in RDF because it’s cross realm and people you will never see again. Why are you lying now, lmao?

The tool is actually great and finds me a group sub 10 minutes every time.

If you don’t have time to play an MMO, don’t play it at all. Stop trying to ruin WoW a second time.

I want RDF to level alts

Just stop, you cna and it was done. I am currently playing with someone from wrath that I meet using RDF. he created a toon on my realm and I created one on his. He was in the Army then just like me. We struck up a conversation and next thing you know we stayed in touch and played many different games. All because of RDF. Ia lso have a few more friends I meet this way even though life has caused us to go seperate ways.

I’m glad you made one friend. That doesn’t change the fact that the likelihood of making friends is significantly lower than questing in the open world or doing same realm dungeons.

It doesn’t have to be cross realm. If Blizzard put RDF in the game for same realm only, I’d be happy with that.

only because of the realm you are one and I doubt sub 10 min but yeah sure. Tell ya what mr hot shot. Come to a smaller server and see how long it takes. As Is aid before RDF does not affect me. I get into any group i want as soon as I log on, and thats on a small realm.

No, in fact the current issues people are clamoring about is that a expansion feature is being removed and being told various different reasonings for it and then Blizzard turning around and going against the very reasonings they told them.

If you’re a purist, then you’d want to get 3.0 in its full glory. Being for some changes immediately makes you not a purist. I agree, the decision to use 3.3.5 tuning was a good choice, I’m pointing out that the argument of being against RDF purely because it wasn’t added until ICC is an idiotic argument when we’ve got a massive list of things that aren’t true to the 3.0 state of the expansion. And Blizzard can absolutely adjust the dungeons available, and the rewards given to fit a pre-Naxx phase, just as they’re already going to be doing with dungeons dropping relevant emblems that will be updated each phase.

Made friends questing in open world, asked them if they wanted to que. Even formed guilds or joined guilds by doing this. Once again all because of RDF.

So then why is there boost? If you purchased TBC back in 2007, you did not have a level 58 boost. If you purchased Wrath, you didn’t receive a level 70 boost. So why do we have boost in Classic?
