RDF and the Halls dungeons

I already hated the idea of random dungeon finder, longer dps ques, sub geared players, worse LFG system and just goes against everything a MMO is about and sucked any last drop of Decency out of wotlk.

Well what’s even more annoying is the “random” part of it. Because HoS and HoL got to be the worst, most awful, most longest dungeons ever. You give us a massive dps buff but yet it takes fooorrreeeevvveerrrr, its no fun, and those types of affixes will never be fun. And I swear out of ever 3 ques I do, 1 of em are HoS or HoL. Unless you have a full grp of 5.7k+ pumpers it takes wayyyyy toooo lonnngggg. please do something about this. I literally just leave the dungeon now and take the 30 min debuff and go play hardcore for a bit. I will never do it again.

And those of you saying I can make my own group. Good luck finding a healer on at 7am in the morning on my server that wants to run over to a dungeon. Prior to RDF I could get a healer willing to run a dungeon at 7am. Thanks RDF for limiting my options.

Just leave the dungeon and queue again. I left one yesterday and didn’t get a debuff - you can queue again right away.

If it’s gamma, make sure everyone’s using the Argent buff guy. You get a signet ring to summon him that lasts in your bags for 24 hours, and can summon this NPC in Gamma dungeons, who will give players a dps buff of their choice.

whats the name of the item?

The item is called “Signet of the Silver Covenant” (Alliance). It’s conjured, lasts 24 hours, has a 2 minute cooldown, and is probably put in your bags every time you activate or RFD a gamma dungeon, if you don’t have one already.

I don’t know how exactly I got it, so I assume it was placed there when I ran a gamma.

halls of stone aint even bad its the damn dwarf rp boss thing that makes it way longer than it needs to be but hell just because of that i rather do vh if they want me to afk most the dungeon lol.

These are cake walk dungeons. They don’t take any longer than others (with the right group)

Well, hey. At least he is honest about enforcing gatekeeping and suffering from not being able to get biggest pumpers.

if you have such big issues with running with 5k gs folks in RDF, well sir, you are one of the reasons why even got RDF back in 2012.

The tank has to chain pull these dungeons. Your buff should be rolling all the time and by the end of each fight the mana regeneration will probably have your healer sitting around bored as hell if he’s not doing it right.

Not that healer’s fault that he/she would rather use RDF than find a group manually.

So, now you want to take away RDF, so that healer has to revert to finding groups the classic Andy way, something he/she may dislike, just so you can satisfy your preferred PvE method of grouping.

I find your logic and reasoning faulty…

That’s why I firmly believe all these crybabies making topics about being kicked are Anti-RDFers casting aspersions on RDF in an attempt to get it taken away.

Not that it isn’t happening. I got kicked by a weak tank that thought my heals were inadequate; but, it has been the only time that has happened. 90% of my runs have been successful.

I like those dungeons as a resto druid because I have infinite mana and can spam hurricane half the time when nothing else is going on. I also use the ranged DPS buff since the healer buff is trash so that’s another potential haste proc.

So don’t bloody random queue?

The daily doesn’t require you to random.

In fact, the ONLY benefit you get from randoming is 20g extra for the first one.

Queue up for every single dungeon other than HoL and HoS, lose out on the 20g and be a happy monkey.

Easiest thing to do in the damned world. And you didn’t.

I strongly agree, They need to reduce trash mob hp by like 80% to make it less tedious.

Making trash mobs take 5 times longer to kill doesn’t even feel harder, It just feels more tedious and boring.

Halls of stone took me 36 minutes
Forge of Souls took me 12 minutes

So just don’t do random gammas anymore and only do ICC 5 mans. mobs die faster and you can complete your gamma + heroic frost daily quest. Thats right the quest don’t require you to do a random, You can just specifically choose which dungeon you want to do from the gamma list. You won’t get the 2 triumph emblem bonus but who cares.

Now if random gammas gave 2 frost from the menu rewards it would be a different story.

One issue is that “Random” Dungeon Finder is anything but random. Tonight I got OK twice in a row… and if that wasn’t bad enough the 4k gs tank was way too low for that instance and we got wrecked. RDF should put dungeons you’ve done recently on a cooldown so that you don’t keep repeating the same dungeons multiple times in one night. After a couple dozen RDF runs, there are still gammas I haven’t seen yet.

On top of that, Mirror Image dungeons clearly weren’t tested. I spend 70% of Nexus runs Ice Lancing mirror images. Yeah, real fun gameplay Blizzard.

RDF was introduced at a time when heroic dungeons were already stupid easy. Using RDF in 2023 with gamma dungeons is a totally different ballgame because pairing up with under-geared or low-performing players is just a frustrating messy slog.

I can’t wait until I have enough frost badges to stop running gammas… and I’ve completely given up any idea of gearing an alt through these dungeons… Which is a shame because it could have been a relatively fun and painless way to do it.

RDF is the best feature ever added to an MMO in history. If an MMO doesn’t have RDF it’s just not as good as it can be. Best social and gaming feature ever.

Nah they are super fun get to do giga damage and just chain pull keeping the buff up.
