Ray Tracing

Is ray tracing in game yet? Cause as far as I can tell my rig can support it but WoW says its disabled

I have a EVGA RTX 2060 KO Super, with a Ryzen 5 3600X and I’m able to enable Ray Traced Shadows, with the options low, medium, and high.

These GPUs should support RTX requirements, along with the obvious 2000 and 3000 series.

  • GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
  • GeForce GTX 1660
  • Nvidia Titan Xp (2017)
  • Nvidia Titan X (2016)
  • GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
  • GeForce GTX 1080
  • GeForce GTX 1070 Ti
  • GeForce GTX 1070
  • GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

Make sure your OS is on the latest build, and you have the correct DirectX version selected in game.

are you able to use it on retail, beta or ptr?

For the purposes of WoW the 10xx and 16xx GPUs do not support Ray Tracing. Only the 20xx and 30xx cards are supported for enabling it in WoW.

In addition to the hardware, you also need Windows 10 version 2004 or later and Nvidia driver 451.48 or newer.

I’m on retail.

One thing to try is going too https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 and making sure that windows is really up to date. My PC was showing as “up-to-date” but the windows update in the settings menu wouldn’t locate the most recent update. Once windows is up to date, ensure your 2070 driver is up to date through geforce experience or from https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/ .
