i think one thing that should be taken into consideration is that many on the list might not necessarily be FULL classes, but rather the names for potential HERO specializations.
I could maybe see Tinker and Bard being a Full Class. But many of the other ones i think warrant just being a specialization. We also have to consider the following:
We have 3 plate wearers, 3 mail wearers, 3 cloth wearers, but 4 leather wearers. We’re missing three classes to fill out the other armor types.
Of these, we also have 3 hero classes, and of the 13 classes we have…
- 13 DPS specs Each class is capable of DPS
- 6 out of 13 classes can be healers (Druid, Paladin, Priest, Monk, Evoker, Shaman)
- 5 out of 13 classes can be tanks (Druid, Monk, Warrior, Paladin, Death Knight)
Looking at this, and the potential for a full class.
We could benefit from more tanks and healers, and likely a Plate class, a Cloth Class or a Mail Class.
If we were to get a Bard, while most fantasy games typically have them wear Leather (like D&D)… i could see them giving them Mail, and having their Tank spec be a battle-singing Skald. A healer spec could be using the radiant song to heal wounds, and DPS spec would be akin to what Aug does.
A Tinker would probably be a Clothie, that utilizes gadgets and machinery for damage akin to a caster, but a tank spec that lets them hop into a giant Mechsuit. Our first “Cloth Tank” (though its operating a vehicle basically).
In order to warrant being a class, it needs to be broad enough that it warrants being stand-alone and not just tacked onto an existing class as a hero spec… AND it needs to be broad enough to warrant diverse specs and future hero specs.
With that context in mind, i have no idea what would fill a 4th Plate full class.
As to the other leaked names, i personally believe those are all just ideas they are tossing around for future Hero Specializations. And many of them probably are just things they were spit-balling in a group.
