Please remove rating requirements for gear for the next two seasons. You can leave shoulders and t2 weapons with requirements if necessary but at least open up the rest.
Arena is already a turn off for people who havent been playing it for 15 years, and i think removing the gear rating requirements will bring in SOME fresh faces and some very much needed “new” players to beef up the lower ratings.

Make all the gear free so we don’t have to hear about it again, give 75g a win instead, 5g a loss.
A small incentive to queue, win or lose. Thank me later.

I started getting pretty into it this past season and have been having a lot of fun. I didn’t quite hit 2.2K yet, but that’s about the level that people new to arena can expect to get to if they start putting in the effort it seems.
I’m hoping to have some regular partners next season and play a steady comp, so hopefully I’ll be able to push a little further, but I wouldn’t say that the rating requirements make any of the gear further out of reach than HM gear.
Dont get me wrong, im not a fool who thinks gear is holding me back lol.
I just think that arena is best when the ladder is plump with fresh meat, and average joes, and top dogs.

Arena reqs were the #1 reason for the massive player participation drop off. The vast majority could literally not buy chest, let alone the helmet.
These players do arena to get gear to do BGs in. That’s it. They couldn’t get gear so they quit and we saw the population do a complete nosedive as a result. It’s 2023, nobody gives a flying crap about “showing off” your shoulders. Ask any glad+ player, and they will tell you the same thing. It hurts the ladder more then you can even imagine.
We saw a 50% player participation drop off this season, the most in WoW’s entire history.

i’m tellin anyone that has not been doin arena for however many years, just try it. this is my second played season ever and i got up to 1951 in 2s. it’s not high, but it’s a big improvement from my last season’s rating, and i’m hoping i improve my rating next season
it did feel really nice to buy helm though. maybe it’s because it’s the first time i’ve been able to during a season, given the rating requirement, but genuinely i had a huge feeling of accomplishment the moment it happened haha

on the flip side were you ever frustrated because the enemy team just completely out geared you and it felt like there was literally nothing you could do?

luckily i didn’t really run into that issue since last season was my first ever attempt to arena, so gear wise it was pretty much even footing (aside from teams with raid weps ofc)
the only time i got annoyed was i THINK around 1200 (yes yes tiny rating but again, first attempt so each 100 rating was a huge milestone for me) i got annoyed because someone had the deadly chest last season. which that’s all rng from VOA at that rating, and really the only reason that annoyed me was moreso to do with my luck in VOA… i have seen two pieces of gear for my spec, both of which i had, and the only other time i am given gear is for a diff spec but i’m the only one of that class there, which yknow… that’s annoying.
otherwise, for me, i’ve not really had an issue with it. again, i think that might have something to do with me feeling that sense of accomplishment for the first time but, i dunno.
Edit: i can see how it’d be moreso of an issue/annoyance this season/next season when you’re joining for the first time without having the previous season’s gear, but even then. i lost a few matches this season against teams that had a disc priest (surprisingly, it was always a disc priest) in deadly gear. so it’s like. the gear matters, yes, but it doesn’t matter as much if you’ve been playing for however many years before this or if you’re a god at pvp (which i’m not lol :') so i lost )
?
I can’t tell if this is serious or not.
I’m happy to see this. Keep practicing, you’ll keep climbing. It’s a great feeling when you see yourself improving. Congrats on making title cutoff this season!
thank you:) the goal was rival since i got challenger last season (also v proud considering first season :') ) which obviously i was a bit low for, but i also took a few weeks of a break so fingers crossed for next season

I haven’t played Arena in about 2-3 months?
pvp wow in general is super stale.
the fact they continue the rating requirements is beyond me. I got back in OG wrath… why on earth would I want to go thru all this struggle again in something that’s dead af.

Lets just give the people the possibility to buy pvp gear with token. Why not?
God pls stop asking for free loot.
it was never alive so in that case they should have never had a requirement in the first place

I hardly think that removing the rating requirements from the gear that already drops from VoA would be “free loot” when it costs 2200 arena points.

It wont change anything. This is not retail, gear won’t give you brain and hands. and this was actually something great about WOTLK, the better you are, the more rewarded you get, and the more you abuse noobs for their lack of skill. you want gear? get good period.

Keep that mindset until glad and r1 are the same number of title spots.

2 pieces. Not all of the entire set lol. Go play diablo if you want to get gear just by existing
People simultaneously cry about the lack of participation and also insist on gatekeeping arena gear. Lol. If you want casuals to buffer the rating ranges you need to give them incentive to play. Add more non gear rewards for the top players (idk rival and up) to compensate.

My suggestion would remove the rating requirement from helmet, and t1 weapons.
Along with the true free loot, voa. Which im pretty sure is 3 pieces? Could be wrong but i think its chest pants and gloves.
This is not even mentioning how pve gear is easier to obtain AND better in a lot of cases. You just have to have more time or care to slay dragons.

Go do pvp gear with toc gear and tell me how it went.
Your only issue is VoA. We all know that VoA is a meme.
