You seem to be projecting some personal insecurity. People play this game for fun. The bell curve will always exist. Once you understand these two truths, you will understand why gatekeeping gear doesn’t work. Rating deflation exists BECAUSE you gatekeep casuals. Your changes would only exacerbate that. Arguing otherwise has to be based on some type of ego complex…
Read what I responded to, and read what I responded with.
oh yea i misread it
my b brother
Well i am being gatekept pve because i have pvp gear. Cannot join any raids because people seem me not good enough although it would be possible to heal them as i got 360ilvl and some pve gear.
Verdict is. Unless you get good at pvp you dont deserve more than as little as i deserve being invited to raids .
And why didnt i get into raid? i didnt put effort in gearing up properly.
Why they shouldnt get weapon? Because they havent got a clue how to play the game.
i could also argue that when you have bad gear or lets say blue for instance you need to play better than if you got full epics. Like when i am BIS i tend to start to slack on the things that i usually do because i dont need to. So they having poor gear also promotes them to be better players.
The goal of pvp is to be rank 1, not to get good gear. Go back to pve.

I was 2200 last season and had all the gear.
Yeah that rush of finally hitting 2200 and getting that weapon was great.
But I would gladly give that up if it means the average pvper is able to compete on a level playing field instead of being gate kept by higher rated players.
The higher participation in pvp the better the game is for everyone.
Pretty sure wrath had some of the lowest arena partition ever partly due to the rating requirements on gear.
Post a screenshot of your 2k rating I doubt you’ve ever hit it.
Most people playing who have been 2k+ have 10+ years of arena experience.
Most people at 2k also understand that gear in general even more so the difference between bloodthirsty and vicious isn’t going to stop you from hitting 2400 rating. making mistakes, lack of coordination, positioning, etc. is the reason they don’t hit 2200. realistically the like 5-6% difference in stats between vicious and bloodthirsty is almost non factor. vicious is just a dopamine of getting the gear.
Most players that have 2k+ experience would all agree better access to gear is better for the community. better access to gear means more players, even if they are just farming conquest for the gear to pve with. chances are in the process of doing arena/RBGs they end up getting interested in them and boom we got a new player for the pvp community and it grows.
This guy gets it.
People never assess themselves. Bad players blame comp, rogues, healers, their partners, their class is nerfed and never look at their own poor play.
I was like that s1 for like 3months until i finally got into vent with a buddy and his friedns doing 3s.
The discussions they would have as a team after every single game win or lose was super construtive and positive. It was a drastic difference from my games and enviroment where it was all pointing fingers and whining.
Once i picked up those good habits went from a 1100 scrun to 2200+ in like a month and i continued to do arena on multiple classes with the same two guys all the way through pandaria.
Get gud kids
I don’t mean to be disrespectful, but you DO understand that because of the bell curve, there will ALWAYS be those “scrubs”, right? You understand those “scrubs” are what’s keeping the ladder from extreme deflation, right? You understand those “scrubs” are most people, right?
This discussion isn’t “how to get good”, it’s discussing the negative ramifications of gatekeeping. Imagine if you had to have a certain k/d ratio on call of duty to use certain guns. Not very smart, is it?
Nothing wrong with socialism. Poor historical execution is a fault of the people, not the system.
This is not only true, but imo the biggest offput of more people playing pvp. (Way more than gear.) I myself was even r1 back in s2 of BC. But i effectively haven’t played since then. Cut to today, and I’m not up to par anymore. It’s really hard to get practice with friends that are in the same boat. Lining up schedules with people that have kids now, etc. And during Legion, i was desperate enough to try playing with pug groups from LFG. Never again doing that. (Especially when i had my title. Everyone expected a carry, instead of building up teamwork, and everything became my fault, lol.)
Pvp is hard to thrive in because even the average mid rated players have been doing THAT for 10+ years straight. An average artist 10 years into their career is going to be better than Davinci’s first ever rough draft.
Even still… i enjoy pvp’ing, and it’s the only reason i even sub to Wow. No other mmo has as fluent of pvp as Wow does. And more specifically on topic: the ingrained gear grind of an mmo IS something that holds Wow pvp back. Or, not just the gear, but levels too. And the things like rep grinds, etc. And phases in Wow where pve is required for pvp bis, those types of things.
There are fixes. But nobody will ever agree on anything… so oh well.
The best pvp experience I EVER had in an MMO was the first Guild Wars, and infact they gave the gear away for free and it was just skins and titles for higher ratings. They even had it so you could create a “pvp” character and only do pvp with it. They made the character max level and equal gear for everyone. Best pvp experience I’ve ever had in an MMO. They also had a currecny similar to honor and that was used to unlock abilities and skins. granted their character/class system was different so it supported that method.
Best way to imagine it would be like an Arena Tournament server in WoW with the raids turned off, and you could use your conquest/honor to unlock transmogs and your rating gave you emotes/titles. but have it also in the same battle group as the normal servers. but you were locked to only being able to que for arenas/rbgs/battlegrounds from the tourny server.
BRUHHHHHH i literally did that meme reaction gif. GW1 might be my favorite game of ALL TIME. It’s either that or Marvel Heroes (rest in peace, beautiful angel).
But that being said, it did have clunkiness to its movement. I still maintain that Wow was always more fluent.
But yeah. I do frequently say, Wow could just do a few of the things GW did. Like pvp versions of skills, gear being aesthetic after a point, and levels being trivial. Hell maybe even the whole pvp character thing. Cuz, really: Why not??? The ONLY people trying to gatekeep pvp gear are pve’ers, lol.
Bleh.
Lol OP cannot pvp without a gear gap, one of those full vicious geared types you see in WG getting clapped by a mage with 93k HP mhhhh
I don’t know if you guys have comprehension issues. If I had problems getting this gear I wouldn’t want it to be “gatekept” the reason why I want it so is because I know I will get it so what you implying is an oxymoron because how could I get advantage if I am not the advantage?
Secondly and more Important that someone else’s states is extreme deflation and that is present right now, less by the week, however. With more people trying to reach these different platues to get their gear you get more people playing in a variety of rating and also become a a better player.
Now you see “chill sham heal looking for yolocap” do you think you’ll ever face these people? The answer is no. Put rating requirement on the gear and you might
Edit! Look what happened in vanilla classic when all pvp gear was handed out for free. When people got their stuff the pvp scene died completely.
maybe distribute elite parts as you climb liking putting boots and belt at 1600 so on and so forth but a goal to work towards is def needed rn
This doesn’t mean it died, it means it wasn’t alive. People that enjoy pvp don’t want it flooded with people that only want gear. Real pvp’ers are trying to win the bg, not bend over and let the other team win for faster honor. Real pvp’ers want to grind out hundreds of games a week, if not thousands. Not hit conquest cap and dip until Tuesday.
You’re proving the point. Pvp should not be about the gear reward.
And even your own perspective doesn’t make sense for wanting the gatekeeping of said gear. If you’re so sure you’re better than others, why be afraid of them having gear??? Could it possibly be that, in actuality, you grinded that gear out because you have a lot of free time, and you think that you need the gear to gain an advantage on people that have less free time and might be able to beat you?
If that’s NOT it, please present to me a better alternative, or else that one is staying.
The goal is rank 1. The only people without that goal are the current rank 1 players. And THEIR goal is to solidify it.
Again, i just… … … if you need gear to tell you what to do, why are you in pvp???
Yeah, no. OP just wants to stomp noobies. Your argument is literally “the noobies stop playing once they cap.” And the goal of your argument is to get the noobs to continue playing past reaching the weekly cap, so they can get into mid-level rating where you can then stomp them.
Sorry that others are able to have fun without having to get stomped by you.
