Get rid of rating inflation (time gating) and instead give us all the rating front loaded every start of a new season. Stop time-gating the players. Stop artificially increasing people rating. Rating inflation is just an “illusion” of improving, not real improving.

They just need another knob to adjust like rating decay. That way they have two ways to tinker with ratings so that it doesn’t get out of hand but still reward players for playing regularly.
But yeah each season cannot be so vastly different from one another in terms of rating inflation. The game is forever hurt due to wide range of rating expectations that the playerbase has now.

The way I see it is that rating inflation makes it pointless the grind for Gladiator unless it’s end of season. It’s trash design and another layer of time-gating players.

Incredible how obtuse one can be. Even though I post in a Ret, this isn’t even my main pvp character.

the problem is that without throttling or rating ceilings the best players will get really high really early then just hold hostage mmr
once 3300 stops playing 3200 stops playing because there’s no upward mmr for them to consume
then 3100 stops playing
it trickles down until all the qs above 2700 are dead
now there’s a few teams playing in the 26-27 range just trading mediocre gains not going anywhere and nobody can catch the initial participation wave that happened when the season was new and fresh almost ensuring the people who played weeks 1-7 just afk to free r1
there’s actually a LOT of value in throttling mmr week by week

Hard agree, it’s always been a sticking point with me. Keep rating integrity. If they want to time gate rewards and gear I’m cool with that, but rating should never be touched.
If I end a season at 1800 in one spec it’s the reasonable expectation that when the new season starts I will again be around 1800. Anything else just messes with people’s head, esp when people new to pvp don’t know blizzard is gaslighting us all with the numbers.
