Fake news! It still says unrated for me even though I’m 1200 and my wins just now aren’t counting toward the mount. It’s been 6 hours since your posting that I’ve checked.
Absolutely tone deaf.
What about the INSANE disparity between players power level?
Who here thinks that 10% of the people mercilessly humiliating the remaining 90% is good for the games population?
Don’t underestimate your competition Blizzard, there are many great games in the works and your share-holders will not be happy…
@ Kaivax
RE, the Blizzard message to Wowhead regarding this change to the mount requirement:
“The rating requirement only exists to negate “tank your rating as far as possible so you can win a bunch of games in a hurry” as a cheesy way to get it (which would in turn have pretty disastrous effects on the overall ladder)”
So, tanking rating is bad and can have “disastrous effects on the overall ladder”. If that is Blizzard’s official stance, how about doing something to curb this behavior.
Shouldn’t this have been posted to the pvp forums?
Actually, it was. Check this selfpwning checkmate out.
Tanking rating for mount - bad
Tanking rating for boosting gear- git gud
Amirite?
If you have to adjust the rated PvP mount threshold for a mount which is, in no way shape or form difficult to get, and is largely a participation trophy - you have a problem. There is a reason people aren’t happy right now with arena, and I hope you fix it come 9.1. Bring back stat templates, and do away with our current gearing problem. Or, make gear static for arena. Not this other crap we have going on right now.
nice! thanks blizz!
hehe now those yolo groups can be a thing i guess?
I…I have no response.
The “improve” that no one asked for.
meanwhile Mind control is still a critical bug and it seems no one care in blizzard office
Insane play. Check mate indeed. You can’t make this stuff up!
What about the Elite PvP transmog sets? Blizz could also lower the rating requirement to 1600 (from 1800) to get the complete set.
I think they’re dropping the requirement because participation is falling precipitously. Or maybe they’re trying to get more players to buy tokens for boosts.
Thank you! This change is a huge improvement and gives me some hope that maybe Blizzard actually does care about addressing some of the glaring problems with the game. It seems to already be making a difference - I did 18 games tonight in the 1200-1400 range and only fought 6 teams with a Gladiator (evidenced by 233 pvp weapon equipped), which is a huge decrease from typical ~75% of teams with gladiator+carry.
Please though do something in 9.1 to address the root cause of why it is so impossible for average players to reach 1400 rating. No matter what rating you are at, the entire ladder is mostly just gladiators and paid carries. If I’m an average player at 1400 rating I should never face someone with >2400 rating skill. Please fix your matchmaking rating system to actually match players against opponents of equivalent capabilities!
Yup, I was at 1360, no credit for me. I believe you have to tap 1400 to get to ranked, then you can drop down.
Totally sucks, I was so excited! Then kept getting creamed, and now I’m down at 1290 something :l
just to know, will you keep ignoring the hundreds of threads and feedback regarding the awfull pvp gear system?
This does not fix the problem. Recognize and understand this now. The problem is that with how the gearing process is set up, there will be people going through and doing the same thing in the same brackets because they still have to go through those brackets in order to get higher rated gear, which means the ladder will remain incredibly deflated, and a nonsensical mess.
If you want the elite set, you should have to work for it. They already went from 2k to 1800, which was a joke in the first place. Going down further does nothing other than completely remove any form of value to them. Instead, ask for them to fix our nonsensical situation so the ladder is fun to climb and has people actually playing to play, and that we’re not dealing with this mess again. Your suggestion? And I’m not being rude when I say this. It’s not even a band aid. You’re blowing on a burning wound hoping the fire’s going to go out and save what remains of your arm. It would do nothing.
I don’t think that they’ll fix it, we have probably 1-2 months until 9.1 and they need to focus on the next content. The easiest way would be just lowering the requirement for the Elite transmog set to 1600 in this season.
Climbing from 1600 to 1800 is a little bit hard because of the boosters.
I’m not interested in playing 1k rated arena matches in 200 ilvl gear against 226 ilvl geared teams that are boosting.
No, you obviously haven’t been keeping up. In order to upgrade gear now, you must maintain the rating and participate in all brackets. The boosting problem is now worse. In other words, boosting will continue to become more prevalent in all brackets because it’s not enough that someone pays the boosting fee once. They must keep paying for boosting and participate actively in the bracket they got the rating in.
Your boosting problem with your suggestion becomes worse. Nothing is getting fixed. Not in 9.1, and not now.
