For people who have been having this error since yesterday - I’ve seen a number of reports that indicate that this only impacts characters in a guild, and that leaving guilds appears to work around the problem. Can those of you experiencing confirm if you’re having the problem on guildless characters?
Note: We don’t have many connection tests, yet, so please still provide these for the time being.
i do but it takes a long time. i was able to raise a vulpera warrior from 10-20 with only a handful of disconnects. no guild on it. any with a guild its 10-30 seconds and pretty much right after the guilds and community button stops showing unavailable.
I was listening to Souzy and he said this worked for him and I tried it… Seems to have worked…
I realize we can move around and such but this seems to have worked. Ive been online now for 25 min with no issues.
I can confirm this between two instances. My main is in a guild and was being booted within 20 seconds. My alt is who is guildless I was able to play and do instances.
Also I dont want to jinx myself, but I seem to be able to play my main now with no DCs. I made to sure to leave Valdrakken ASAP.
I have had this issue since last night but what instantly cleared it up was that I went into the program files in wow/retail renamed the WowVoiceProxy.exe to something that didn’t have an exe at the end of it. Logged back on and everything is working again.
When I got on about 3 hours ago and dced for the first time, i came here and saw the disconnect may be connected to guilds, so i left the guild i was in on my alt, I still get disconnected every 30 mins or so.
All of toons on Blackhand are in the same guild. Any toon in Valdrakken crash but I have a 70 in Stormwind with no apparent issues.

I am just trying for the first time today, I was able to log in and hearthstone with my character finally. Seemingly working now. I noticed I would be able to use all of my skills but I could not type in any chats in real time. If they would ever appear it would be minutes later, and usually disconnect directly after. I have tested the chat and hearthstoning and both worked without issue today!
For clarity I was experiencing the issue in Maine, US on fiber internet.
I was online for most of the day 04/18/23 on one of my alts, and my dcs started shortly after I logged onto my main at 7:30pm ET. I could log back on immediately but would get disconnected 15-30 seconds later, repeatedly. I left for about an hour and then came back at raid time 9pm ET and experienced the same problem. My guildie got an error saying that I was already in a group when they tried to invite me to the group. I had not been in any groups on that character all day. I was able to request to join and got into the group that way. As soon as my character hit the instance portal I dc’d again. Every time I tried to log back in, I’d get the log-in load screen, see the game and hear sounds for a split second, then the raid load screen. After about 20 seconds of the raid load screen, I’d get dc’d again. After doing this load screen loop about five times, I used the character unstuck service, which ported me to the flightpath of the raid. It then took me another couple tries to get into the game, but I eventually made it inside the raid. All 19 other guildies were fine inside the raid waiting for me.
I was unable to type in guild or raid chat, and I was unable to join general chat. The guild chat tab of my social panel was blank, but I could see raid chat in my chat window. Disconnect-wise, I would be fine for about 15 minutes and then dc over and over again for about 5 minutes straight. During that time, I could not accept rezs, and the raid leader could not see my responses to ready checks. We disbanded the raid at 11pm ET, an hour early, because of this.
During this time, I was able to get on other characters which worked just fine. It seemed to be solely affecting my main. None of my guildies were having the same problem as me.
As soon as the group disbanded and I made it back to Valdrakken, I was able to type in guild chat again and was no longer disconnecting. This morning when I logged on, my chat system was working but was incredibly laggy. After about 20 minutes of sitting around, it seemed to be back to normal. I dc’d once while going into an instance during those first 20 minutes, but no other issues so far today.

The only character of mine experiencing the in-game disconnects this morning was my only character in a community. All other characters are in a guild, but just a guild of my characters. They were able to login to do some profession tasks in Valdrakken without issue (although I was only on for a short time, so I may need more testing time to determine). The character in the community could not do any tasks in game without disconnecting, whether coincidental or not I don’t know.
I did experience the disconnects from the character screen every time I logged out to changed characters, however. Character select background was black for a short time with no characters listed before disconnecting.
I am not in-game but will try to provide a test later if not resolved when I get back online. I am also on a Mac and don’t have any firewalls or special network settings.
I just tried this, WowVoiceProxy.exe renamed the extension to old and started the client. No disconnects.
This will break wow voice chat server but I never use it anyway.
Also of note Valdrakken is EMPTY. I see 2 other players when I usually see quite a lot.
I dont know if they just fixed it right now or maybe i found a SOLUTION atleast for me.
Iv had this problem since yesterday, constantly dc’s after i log in with my main after seconds from login in.
Iv been online for more than an hour now , still not dc. All i did was not use BNET app, i went to the retail folder and open the game from there. (I did not try this before because i had to search for my password and use my autenticator, with the BNET is just an auto enter). But it seems like i dont have this problem anymore. Iv been playing for over an hour now still not dc.
I’m no longer being disconnected. Didn’t change anything so not sure why? I logged in first on an unguilded toon and after a few minutes of not being disconnected I logged into a guilded toon that I had been constantly disconnected on earlier this morning. I’ve now been on that toon for several minutes, and teleported to the Dreamgrove without being disconnected. Had been trying to teleport to the dreamgrove repeatedly this morning to no avail.
I’m having this issue only on my main character on US-Illidan. I can log into other characters and play with no issue. If I log in to my Hunter on Illidan, I DC within 10-30 seconds. All of the characters are in guilds, so I don’t think that has anything to do with it.
Hello, i think this is a LUA/Interface problem not a connection problem.
You can test it by reloading your UI (/reload) and you will see an error when hovering over the guild/instance indicator on the minimap. It does look related to leaving/changing guilds recently.
I am affected as well but i am not on my gaming pc at the moment, there is a error log file beign created in the wow folder with more details.
I have never been in a guild on the toon i am experiencing dcs for. My buddy, also has never been in a guild. both are being dc’d every few minutes on anathema, wow classic.
well something must have changed, the toon getting kicked was able to log in and stay for awhile.
I renamed WowVoiceProxy.old back to .exe and I am remaining stable in game. Could be completely coincidental though.
