When TBC 1st came out I recall the higher level players reselling the new trade skill bags that you could only get in outland at really high prices on the Ah . You could early on in TBC run through the blasted lands through the dark portal to buy the bags direct at cost. I do not know if there was min level but I was making the run with characters as low as 24 -27. Now and then I would make it to thrallmar without dying ,( not often heh). The challenge of making those runs with low level chars and raising my otherwise maxxed out fishing skills while dodging mobs in outland that really, really wanted to kill me and would do so without breaking a sweat was some of the most fun I have had since wow came out to now. Alas , the baby proofing of wow started for me then when they level restricted the portal . Why ? I have no idea . Complaints from lower levels that they could go someplace and die ? Cutting into the profits of higher level players reselling the trade bags ? Complaints from high level players they did not want to share outland with lower chars ? I was very disappointed when they level restricted the portal . Conversely I was very excited with the announcement of TBCC to relive the thrill , made the chars aaaaaand then they issued the baby proofed version of TBC . On this subject I am aware that I am most likely an outlier . On the other hand the baby proofing of WOW has been going on from the beginning to now and is one of the things that at least some players I have talked to did not like . I will give at least one glaring example of this now in retail. In felwood most if not all quests can be easily soloed at least 2-3 levels before you can get the quests. I am talking low to average level ,pve ,non-raid gear only, low cost AH gear and what you can make yourself without raid drops. If I had known it was going to be the nerfed portal version of TBC . I would not have bothered with playing "classic " WOW in spite some of things I still prefer over today’s retail. This rant is actually supposed to be feedback to blizzard , they said to put it in these TBCC forums. Why , I do not know. Like many things that WOW does it is a mystery to me …lol 8)
First of all, reading that made my head hurt. I’m not entirely sure I understand, but I’m gonna reply as if I completely understood. I don’t think it had anything to do with baby proofing wow. It was gated for progression. You did not complete the first step, and ergo you did not get to progress past the portal. It wasn’t because high levels didn’t wanna share the outlands, it was because you were not meant to be there. The fact that you were there to begin with was a oversight, and thus, they blocked off the portal to those who were not meant to be there. It’s like trying for a job that wants previous experience. It’s not that they’re babyproofing the job, they just want to know you know what you’re doing.
I have to wonder; if you didn’t have access to the portal right from the beginning; and you were stuck in the Eastern Kingdoms would you feel it was babyproofed?
They probably leveled proof the portal to stop botting, I’m guessing there were level one bots flyhacking in Outland opening chests and herbing etc.
text box me harder daddy uhhh
Dude’s upset that he can’t resell Outland specific vendor goods at obscene markup without levelling to TBC levels himself.
wut?
OP you need to take a basic writing class or pay more attention in school. Grammar and punctuation serve a very important function.
There are a lot of QoL changes going on in the Classic releases, not all of them bad, and some changes that I would agree could be seen as “babyproofing”. This isn’t part of it however imo.
Wall of text crit me for 1035, exploding me like a blood sausage.
