im in the same boat. there should never been a melee spec in a ranged hunter class period. i mean if they were short on melee classes and ranged classes/specs out numbered melee class/specs then ok bm would of made the best fit. but even then it is still not right.
then on top of that there should of never been a melee spec that was robbed from a perfectly good unique ranged spec that so many players mained for years.
i know there is nothing we can do other than constantly point out how good ranged survival was and how bad melee survival is and always will be. but i mean if this is the future of hunters in wow then i guess all we can hope for is that melee survival is always the bottom of the 3 hunter specs in dps.
so tired of looking in group finders and seeing LF SV HUNTER when a geared mm can pull 25-35k dungeon, group and tank pulls depending. like gtho of here melee survival. your stale, old, and not wanted. you are constantly being redesigned and are now about steal everything bm has anyway and will still be a failure.

Imagine a world where in Legion Beastmasters got Talonspear and Survival got Titanstrike.
All of the creative power of the Titans held in our hands, a mobile forge, to be used in creating different munitions depending on the situation. Rapidly firing off unique shot after shot after shot…
All of the feral and primal power of the Wild Gods imbued into a relic that brings out the true savage and cunning nature of creation, allowing unparalleled connection with your companion(s) able to seamlessly coordinate attacks in unison. A true Master of Beasts.
Man what a world that would’ve been lol.
Honestly the key points you put down are some of the most constructive and well thought out ideas I’ve seen or heard in months for this.
I don’t care much about RSV/MSV outside of potentially losing my main spec if MSV is reverted. That being said now is obviously the best time to try to work it in as a choice. I agree it works best in the marksmanship tree as current iterations of MM are far closer to previous RSV than current MSV.
Its also a great way to get RSV back without being awkward about needing a pet (do they?), and having to think about the sick joke that is MSV mastery.
As far as MSV talents go I truly lament the lack of caltrops, throwing axes, sticky bomb, lacerate, TRUE flanking strike, etc. I’m a little disappointed they decided to ask us to force-feed our tree points for %X here and %Y there. We see these more often than we get talents worth getting excited for. And the greatest irony is there is actually plenty of interesting, creative concepts that have existed in MSV previously.
Sorry Hideous Necro. I should be flogged.
Agreed. The GCD cost each way upon weapon-swap also feels much more… fitting? —thematic? deliberate? hard to phrase, exactly— compared to just popping that CD, at least in the context of taking Alpha Predator and Serpent Sting.
I just wish Kill Command wouldn’t count as a weapon action and therefore wouldn’t be put on the GCD by weapon-swaps, giving us a further measure of opportunity cost avoidance.
That’s not to say that requiring twice the weapon count has ever been expected of anyone but Fury, so there is an issue there, but hey, if extended ranged uptime is to be an option for a now-melee-at-core spec and what compensation would come with being melee… it’s not unwarranted that we’d need more weapons to do so. If one plays any BM or MM, it’s no waste anyways.
