I don’t know if it’s just this expansion or not, but playing a ranged class feels a lot more punishing and less fun than melee. It always feel like I’m having to do a lot more work to do less damage, and is there even a benefit to being ranged outside of pvp? The dungeons, raids seem to have just as many or more mechanics for ranged characters to deal with than melee, and even the weak filler requires a cast time.
Mages have more ways to deal with this than most but casting while moving is still very limited. Why? would it break the game to be able to frost bolt, incinerate, wrath, shadow bolt while moving? It seems like ranged have more difficulty baked in without the payoff of better damage.

This has almost always been true at the start of expansions. im guessing its because of how secondary stats scale over the expansion, and maybe because how a good weapon for melee changes everything.
WoW raid and dungeon encounters have evolved over the years to have more complex mechanics and require more movement.
It feels very punishing to ranged classes that rely on stationary casts. Excessive movement really punishes them.
It also doesn’t help that there are many encounter mechanics that only hit ranged and force them to move. It’s frustrating to have to move all the time to avoid puddles landing on you as ranged, while often melee can just stand in place and tunnel.

Yea, that is true. I’ve seen other people complaining about the amount of movement required for ranged in this expansion. Hopefully blizz will adjust it in the upcoming raids/dungeons

After SL it’s nice for melee to have the easy job for a change

for years mechanics have been focused on melee, letting ranged sit there and cast while we suffer.
now mechanics have been evenly distributed, meaning casters have issues maintaining uptime since they have to move as often as melee do, but if a mechanic doesn’t completely force melee out of range of the boss, they can still hit things.
and then there’s hunters who can move and shoot.

Probably why there’s like eleventy billion of them running around.

also because they are just more fun. (imo, but the numbers to prove that)
It does get old having to move while trying to get a cast off vs playing a melee class and just hitting the button and the damage is instant, which feels like alot lately in raids.
Melee lately also feels like there’s too much effects going on and you can miss an attack from the boss and get killed from it.

Some of these weird monsters i can’t tell if i’m hitting the back or front ha, and the tank dancing around doesn’t help make it clear

I wish casters would stop acting like they’re so weak. All 3 lock specs are strong, shadow priest is strong, idc about mage , ele is strong , dev voker is strong. Nothing is wrong with casters it is just YOU.

I think a lot of the consternation arises from the fact that hard casting is a bit anachronistic in modern WoW, which is a shame.

My Frost Mage sucks in DPS
People just want to find reasons to cry.

Ranged imo is 100 times easier than Melee. I can stand, plant and turret. Sure I may need to side step a mechanic or two.

Welcome to having to deal with what melee has dealt with for the past 9 expansions, enjoy your stay.

Damn bro you eating your words now? Always hilarious when someone spews a bunch of stupid incorrect information proudly
It’s just a cop out when they can’t think of a mechanic so they just toss everything at our feet. Last boss in nokhud is a perfect example of this.
Lmao, I do not feel evenly remotely sorry for all the ranged players complaining about having to move for mechanics.
In fact, it warms my heart just a little. Now you share the pain melee have felt for ages.
But hey, at the end of the day a lot of ranged classes have instant spells or ways to circumvent the difficulty of needing to move. When melee is forced off the boss, we’re forced off the boss! So thats a silver lining for sure

Melee have a MUCH easier time getting back on target and back into their rotation than ranged do (BM hunters don’t count, you know why)
If you are halfway through your cast you gotta move, interrupting your cast, and losing those few seconds of cast time. If it happens every once in a while its not bad. But when you have to do it every 10 seconds your DPS is just hammered. Especially when you are in the middle of a burn phase, or setting up a combo that cant be resumed without starting over again.
