Random screen freezes in dungeons

Hello, i’ve been experiencing a rare bug that freezes my screen for about 5 seconds… It only happens in dungeons. I already did the repair thingy, updated all my drivers and addons, etc. I don’t know what else to do because it happens at the worst moments and its very very upsetting.

Edit: Checked in Event Viewer to see if it was something related to an unwanted update or whatever from my computer but nothing showed up while the dungeon (and freeze) was happening.

Edit: Also happens in raids.

Ya this has happened to me in a couple M+ runs, and a few people in raid tonight experienced the freeze but i didn’t.

I haven’t raid yet but I assume it’s going to happen all the same.

Happens to me since the patch also. I think it’s related to the “issue” re NIVIDA graphics card that they posted in the Diablo 4 forums. Came here to get clarification as it is happening to several people I know since the patch. Yeah it’s tons of fun to freeze up in a mythic as a healer and come back to find your party dead.

It could possibly be two things one the latest Nvidia driver is having issues with wow. And two there seems to be an issue with the latest Windows patch that is also having issues with wow. You can try rolling back the Nvidia video drivers. Or checking to see if you have the I think it’s 24h2 patch

Same, which is really bad, especially on pull when you press your CDs. It is also really random too.

I don’t use Nvidia, plus it has also been happening to my guildmates. On Thursday it happened to our main tank while raiding and yesterday it happened to our healer while doing a m+. It tends to happen in the WORST moments… Like key moments; when you need to move or act.

I should also add that it started with this new patch…

Same this patch performance is terrible.

It happened ALOT in raid to me. Every boss, sometimes for 30 seconds, and then it caught up. Has happened in a delve as well. Exiting the game and coming back in seems to help short term, but it comes back.

Are we going to do something about this? It’s getting incredibly annoying… So much so I may just unsub.

It’s been a GPU or Windows issue for most people, nothing Blizz can do about either of those.

Neither were an issue before 11.1. What do you mean?

There was a Windows update rolling out around the same time. Also, both AMD and nVidia GPUs received updates right before and after the patch. For me, the nVidia driver was causing small lockups. I went scorched earth with DDU and grabbed the version from early February, which resolved the problem.

Ok… where did you get this from.

From the many threads in this forum during the last two weeks. There’s a forum search feature, just type in 24h2 and choose Recent. Same for nVidia and AMD.

So i have to format my computer (cuz the rollback option is no longer available) to solve an issue that happens ONLY in wow?

You can choose to do whatever you like, I’m just telling you a potential cause of the issue. Many other games are also experiencing this problem due to the Windows update.

On my end, it’s not only happening with wow. I’m also getting blue screened playing Zombid, F76. And ESO. Seems like the 3/14 windows update screwed everything up and trying to revert back to pre-3/14 also causes the blue screens

For what it’s worth I have been experiencing the same freezes described here. For me it isn’t related to windows or Nvidia since I am using an M1 Max Mac. I haven’t made any OS updates since the 11.1 patch, and the problem started on 11.1 patch day.

I only get these screen freezes while in dungeons or raid, not open world. I typically see them about once an hour. The funny thing is it seems like everything else is working except for the display. The audio of the encounter continues as normal, and any buttons I press still seem to work immediately. I play pally so I bubble when these screen freezes happen, and pray I don’t die before the graphics start working again.

Blizz, please fix.

I can confirm on my end that I have not updated either of the noted potential problem points, and I continue to have these screen freezes – similarly with an alleged 99% spike in memory.

I can also confirm this does not happen in any other game for me.
