Random screen freezes in dungeons

For me, I normally play with 190ms and now with this problem it suddenly goes up to 350ms+, it’s literally unplayable. I haven’t been able to get into playing an M+ or raid for 3 days now, maybe it’s time to unsub too.

Still getting these annoying freezes. Did anyone tested windows thing?

Doubtful. So let me preface this with a lot of information to save you a lot of time. When I say I’ve gathered information and I’ve tried just about everything I mean it. I used to write a tech YouTube channel when I would build and design systems to benchmarking etc and I used to build systems to sell in excess of over 100 per year. So I have a plethora of parts and components available to me for testing at a given notice.

Since patch 11.1 I’ve noticed in group content raids and Mythic plus that I won’t counter at least one freeze the last on the low side 5 seconds on the high side up to 20 seconds. This has been widely documented across Reddit with over half a dozen threads with hundreds of comments All experiencing the same thing.

I went ahead and did the following:
Wiped my system loaded only WoW with no add-ons.
Move my system to another Network
Built an entirely separate system and tested on both networks.
Turned xmp on and off
Reduced settings from 7 to 5
Resolutions rested: 3440x1440 and 2560x1440
I ran a 24 CPU load test, memtest and combuster for 24 hours to verify no errors.

These are the specs of both systems:
Intel I7-14900k
Rtx 4080
32gb ram
2TB NVME SSD

Amd 5900x
6800 xt
32gb ram
1TB NVME SSD

So now that I’ve had the exact same issue across two different fears on two different networks with fresh World of Warcraft installations and no add-ons and this is still happening and the fact that this happening to hundreds if not thousands of other people I’m starting to think this is a game issue that needs to be looked at.

I’ve been experiencing this issue as well. I purposely did not update to 24H2 and am currently on 23H2 (windows 11 pro). This morning it was really bad. I did a dungeon and my game froze multiple times and did not recover. I had to alt f4 out of the game and relog. I have not made any changes to my PC and had no problems until the last patch. I am using nvidia driver 560.94. I have not updated because of the techspot article warning users of 40 and 30 series video cards not to update to the new 572.xx driver. I am using an MSI 3080 graphics card.

Except it’s happening on Apple too…

I specifically stated that it is a “potential” cause. It, has, in fact, been the cause for other players who reported their problems were solved by rolling back the update.

Obviously, different systems can have different solutions. I have 2 old systems and 1 newer system, none of which experience freezes in any content, but I only run Windows 10.

Has anyone seen feedback about this from blizzard? Its super annoying to brick your key or someone else’s key over it. I froze up in a floodgate 12 the other day, and it was the worse its ever been. People in my party said they had the same issue in the exact same spot that I froze up in. I understand there are lots of moving parts, but even an acknowledgement of the issue from blizzard would be nice. Like the one they did in the diablo forums.

Im still having random freezes out of nowhere . Did the last Nvidia and Windows patch fix it for you guys?

I’m having the same random lockups in Mythic plus and raids. It happened just last night in a +10 Theatre of Pain which killed me (luckily the group survived). Really unacceptable to charge a monthly fee to play a game that doesn’t work.

You’re necrobumping this thread, but to be blunt, the monthly sub is the license access fee.

You didn’t report any further troubleshooting from your last post, which only stated you didn’t update anything.

Doesn’t make my statement any less true.

Was this during the first boss? Twice now has my game freeze up only shortly after engaging the mother boss. I suspect it’s the newer amd driver.

Would be nice to have an actual employee comment on the validity of this being a wow engine issue with sound files being cached if they are not already.

Will a full ui reset, including cvar reset help?
