Random loot is very, very broken

I cannot understand how “random” can be broken, honestly I am perplexed over it. Random is random it can’t be broken it is not in a fixed state because it is you know random.

If I flip a coin 25 times and it lands heads up 20 times is it broken?

I have very much had the same issue. I will have 3 or 4 things that badly need upgraded for very exntended periods of time. And I play a lot. I progression raid and run a couple mythics whenever enough guildies are on to do them and do my weekly and emissary. I was so frustrated for a month or two of getting a helm I didn’t need literally 12 times in a row that I almost quit. Having the same issue now though on all 6 of my alts that have also reached max level. It does get extremely demoralizing after doing so much on every maxed out toon and having the same thing happen on all of them as soon as my ilevel starts to get a bit higher. I don’t understand why they can’t make a scaling loot system, so things get slightly less random the higher your ilvl gets, and the drops become (at least slightly) more attuned to your specific needs). And so the same exact item slot doesn’t drop, say, 12 times in a row. I know a couple people who have quit recently and this was definitely one of the reasons most of them listed. But it is good to hear they might actually be doing something about it.

Yes, but eventually over enough time it should balance out to roughly an even number of times head and tails. So if this only happened over the course of a week or two, yes just bad luck, but over several months it should even out. The longer you keep at it and the more time you put into it, statistically speaking you really shouldn’t be getting the same item slot drop a dozen times in a row, especially over the course of several months if you are playing every day.

But this isn’t a new thing it has been like this since WoWs inception, I can remember trying to get my shield week after week in ICC I didn’t get it till a week before cata released and I had been running the raid since it first started. Sure if you do it enough times luck should and can change but it is still random. My point being random cannot be broken.

Just to be clear I wouldn’t mind some type of protection from getting the same loot week after week or loot that i don’t need but it is silly to say random is broken imo.

Fair enough. I guess your example of only 20 some odd flips is what threw me off.

You need to be more specific. What exactly did you put your 20 hour toward? Based on the info you gave us, it sounds like you need to be clearing at least normal BoD to get upgrades. Nothing else, unless the small chance it forges, will grant you ilvl upgrades.

The game should reward relative difficulty and time spent not luck. I still think all gear with stats should be removed from the game, cosmetics and crafting mats drop instead, and ilvl should be a function of what you have done and how much you’ve played. Professions that create armor and weapons and enhancements should now create cosmetics instead.

Have you considered doing content that actually rewards higher item level gear?

Loot is so easy to get once you grind m+. I’m pretty much at the point that even a 410 more than likely would not be a upgrade. I actaully wish gearing was harder than it currently is.

baloney

you get try to get a spot in those type of groups?

either 100 decline

or you form a pug that cant complete it

what they need to do is get rid of raider io

and have vendors that reward pvp gear for medallions like they used to.

and 7000 resources for 400 ilvel gear is absurd when most gear gives 5 to 12

They should have that done by 9.2.

I know they meant for every player in the game to grind m+. I’m not sure why you would think most people would want to do that.

I don’t think it’s a problem where people would have a problem with not getting gear at all. You are right, that has always happened. It’s when they get redundant gear thrown at them that gets DEd where it becomes a feeling that the item you got was just totally wasted.

You get 20 epic pieces of gear per week and only 1 or 2 (none?) are an upgrade. This is a problem.

Even if you don’t want to, you will have to eventually to be competive. Raiding is much harder to get a group for and doesn’t give you a m+ cache.

Only time I feel RNG is when I’m trying to get a Warforge on a specific piece. Other than that, if you’re really having a problem with gear then it’s probably due to the content (or lack thereof) you’re doing.

What a crock, vendors were fine. At this point I just can’t accept the stance they are taking against that system is anything other than just to extend the treadmill.

There’s nothing wrong with target loot, kill boss, chance taken per loot table. If you’re unlucky save your currency and buy a comparable item. Like it’s rocket science with some ambiguous solution they have yet to discover in the last 12 years.

i can see where your coming from I don’t think the issue is random but the sheer amount of different gear in that pool compared to how it was before now we got 13 slots to fill…before when we killed a boss say back in ICC for this purpose we had a small pool a boss would drop maybe 3-4 random items with set stats for your spec and class, so your chances of getting something that would be an up were improved…

now we go to the mythic cache box and we have 13 pieces in that pool that can warfoge, titan forge so on and so on and have 4 different stats that are 50/50 going to be the stats you need, so your chance of getting a dupe or something that is completely useless increases by 20 fold.

to many options they need to simplify gear again it is getting outrages.

Going to have to agree with senorita demon juices, that gear us to help you get into harder content if you want upgrades starting grinding mythic+ or raiding

You’re lucky that amount of free loot is even available to catch up

I agree. I always thought the best way to go was to have some random loot, but also a currency to go along with it, so that if the pieces you need don’t drop you can eventually just buy the ones you haven’t gotten yet.

But apparently being suck in an endless loop of farming gear forever and never getting upgrades is what they find fun.

Please post where you find it… I suppose there is at least one. Right?
