This morning I killed Galleon on another character. When he died, the screen did something funny (not sure what), but I didn’t get the victory music or loot or gold. When I checked, it said I had not killed Galleon this week. I flew off and did a couple of chores, came back when he re-spawned, killed him again and this time I got some gold.
An hour or so ago, on a different character I’m leveling, I was doing a quest in Jade Forest. Can’t remember the name of it, but it’s one of Loremaster Cho’s quests that he gives you after you make a painting and feed his birds for him. It’s the one where you kill 8 Mist things so that another, tougher Mist thing appears that you’re supposed to kill so you can harvest its heart for the bloodthirsty Cho. I killed the 8th Mist thing and the tougher Mist thing appeared. After I hit him a few times (he still had plenty of health), my screen did the funny thing it did with Galleon and the Mist thing disappeared. I couldn’t harvest its heart, obviously, so I killed another 15 or 20 Mist things trying to get him to re-appear but he never did. Now the quest is stuck on the final step with no way of finishing it.
I did submit a bug report, but I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem. I don’t know what’s happening, but it seems like I’m somehow getting shuffled to a different layer randomly.
I actually do have a horde character on Mankrik. Level 80 Belf Hunter that I haven’t played since early Cata Classic. The WoTLK guild broke up when Cata hit, and pretty much everybody but me took the trouble to gquit. I became GM of an empty guild and just haven’t been back. I should probably log back in so I can stand around next to my personal guild vault and stare at my pitiful character stats for a little while. Maybe auction off what’s left for some pointless gold.
Edit: I just logged in. There are still 13 guild members, including me. Two of them logged in 3 months ago. Everybody else last logged in 1-3 years ago. The guild bank has 1g 11s 28c and a variety of low level food, gear, potions and stuff. I last logged in 163 days ago.
If your stuck on a quest a simple fix would be to abandon it and pick it up again and do it over. Unfortunate for sure, but blizzard will likely be or no help, you’ll probably get an automated response telling you to do just that, or it could just be a random response because the AI is dumb and doesn’t understand what your issue is. Either way, doing it yourself will be faster than waiting for a reply.
