Random freezes

Howdy!

I came back to TBCC last week and I’ve been having some random freezes which, until tonight, have not resulted in the game crashing. I decided to record my gameplay with OBS to capture the issue in action.

The first crash: https://youtu.be/zNbBCOqp0f0
In this video, I disabled all addons except: IceHud, Bagnon, Bartender, and Questie. This is the first and only time that the game has actually crashed.

The second crash: https://youtu.be/AkYgDrIvCxM
I disabled ALL addons for this hoping that would solve my issue.

My PC:
Asus PRIME x470-PRO BIOS v6024
AMD Ryzen 2700X (overclocked)
NVIDIA 980Ti Classified (driver 512.15)
Corsair CMK32GX4M2E3200C16 (2x 16GB 3200MHz DIMMs)

I sometimes play on my Surface Pro 5 but have never experienced this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Edit: BIOS firmware has been updated. 5603 → 6024

Make sure all your drivers are up to date, and turn off any overlays to rule them out. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, do a full UI reset.

You are 7 bios releases behind, and for ryzen that matter for stability and performance.

My hunch is that your amd chipset drivers are also old. Check this as well.

Thank you for the reply.

Jetsum: As noted, I am running the latest GPU driver. I have also produced this with no addons and with ~12. Addons/UI do not seem to have an affect.

Zungar: I’ve been in the overclocking world almost 15 years. I can’t imagine a mobo BIOS causing this issue, but I’ll give it a shot :man_shrugging:

Don’t mind me, I transposed 2 digits in your bios release number…oh, I see your edit now.

And add many here will tell you, disabling addons doesn’t really turn them off. They still load. You’ll want to rename those folders as described in the ui reset documentation.

After upgrading my BIOS, my game crashed again while AFK (ran to the bathroom). I decided to google the crash code provided. Turns out WoW classic is based off Legion (7.5) and doesn’t support DX12. I changed my settings to DX11 and believe (I have no proof yet) that my problem is solved.
