You think you do, but you don’t
Very true and factual.
I want to play with all my friends but my characters are locked to 2004 technology.
If we let anybody log in to benediction for free alot of people would come back as after dungeon grinding you can go chill on grobb to ERP or westfall to go farming. Then faerlina to auction? ( example AH realm)
Which 2004 technology?
Blade server tech, character info is still dealt like a text folder from that age. Server transfer can take 5 minutes or 15 days, i dont really get why all these years later they cant see that not letting me play with my friends on another server is arses bollocks.
Tired of not having an option sometimes to just log into a populated server at 4 oclock in the morning on my fresh reroll without paying 25$. After 3 server deaths i dont give a damn about server communities as being from fairbanks, ar acanite reaper, or thunderfury means nothing to me and has not.
Well, I’m not sure how we can determine the hardware (I’m interested to know!).
The latter part doesn’t seem like tech, but rather design, though I wouldn’t feel comfortable betting that I’ve understood you on this. What is “character info is still dealt like a text folder” supposed to mean?
Yeah, that’s kind of weird, but for all the times I’ve ever character transferred (maybe 15-~20 ish), I’ve never waited longer than 5 minutes. Not that that’s a large enough sample size to get any sort of idea about edge cases or how common they are.
Sure. I think this is a great point. I don’t think being locked to a server is a great model, but it also doesn’t seem like it’s a tech constraint, but again a design decision.
I played on Fairbanks Alliance during Phase 2 of WoW Classic.
Im not sure how to say that the current changes to retail are things id like implemented. In reference to cross realm technology and faction mix raiding.
RDF to me at the end of the day is just lack of a population to some degree and lack of access to said population…because my character might say westfall at the end?
I dont like the automated portion of the random as not having any CC in a group is not fun to work around, i also dont like kicking people stuffed into a group with me for lack of a better term gatekeeping in a sense. Who do i choose to kick as a tank? The rogue, warrior, or deathknight?
I mean just say it. I like cross-server/cross-faction as well. I can think of some other ways that things could be that aren’t solutions to problems based on design decisions from 2004, but yeah… being able to easily and readily form groups is something that Retail is doing a pretty good job of, imo.
I’m somewhat mixed on the whole Dungeon Finder debate. As someone who tends to form my own groups, it’s not a big deal either way, but I also suspect that if they do add it with the current populations and playstyle, DPS wait times might be far worse than it was during the original iteration.
It certainly doesn’t incentivize tanks to queue after they’ve got what they need.
odd that is the wrong saying. It is We don’t think we do, we know we do. Your Jedi mind tricks hold no power here.
I’m shocked this thread was started by a character named Toxicyo.
