I knew in legion beta that PVE gear was better than PVP gear for obtaining the highest ilevel gear possible which would translate in PVP despite the template system.
Right now I am warning people that you better PVE your knickers off to compete in PVP because the PVP gear after 2 weeks is going to fall behind due to PVE and from that point forward PVE gear will reign supreme.
As as old school MMORPG player I know what having to PVE to PVP looks like.
Systemlands is a knockoff of a Korean MMORPG. Book mark this now.
The issue is people are expecting to get best in slot gear from playing casually. Put some time in, do some strategy, and get some better gear. You don’t see casual mythic dungeon’ers complaining about not getting gear. Why should it be different here?
When saying RPG it is referencing power progression and character customization thru leveling, items and systems. They are the best games which is why I have enjoyed them the last 20 years.
I have always supported Unique PvP gear that is BiS. We need a PvP stat and for PvP set bonuses to return. Versa is NOT a PvP stat.
PvP gear should look like this
Helm 200 Item Level
+65 Mastery
+55 Haste
+25 PvP stat
With that said in many Old expansions it was okay to Sub out “SOME” slots with PvE gear whether it was for a Tier set bonus, 3 sockets, or other stats. However the majority of PvP gear should come from PvP.
WoD and MoP let unrated players eventually get BIS gear and those PVP gearing systems are largely considered the best we have ever had.
Getting honor gear right now feels good because it is the best you can get. Once raids M+ and rated come out, SL will be even worse for unrated players than BfA.
The point is they can’t give PvPers BIS gear if we don’t have to work for it. Anyone can go into a random BG and get honor. It shouldn’t be that easy to get BIS gear. So now it’s get to 1400 for first upgrade. Bruh you can do that with your eyes closed!
When and who and where are people asking for BIS gear? This is just one of the many simple comprehension issues or engineered facts that simply isn’t what (from what I am reading) reality.
“Casual” folks want to enjoy PVP, in the world, in duels, in BGS, outside of the rated toxicity (this is arguable, as you can find the right, folks it might not be but it’s still a choice by each perspective) to able to engage in fights without worrying about the massive gear variance to simply have no point in competting.
It’s also arguable that even in BFA, a 460 versus a 475+ PVP rated guy would have ho chance. Personal experience, it came down to the players skill to a small extent which is the desirable scenario.
One would think that’s the case for these die-hard PVPers also considering we have destroyed the “bg scrubs with gear are ruining rated arenas and pvp” argument since it should be at least somewhat about skill, especially in a non rated environment.
RPG = playing a role in a game. A Warrior, Hunter, Hero, Crafter or any other sort of roleplaying in this game. Gear progression is part of the game but it does not represent what RPG stands for.
That is what the acronym originally stood for but then it definition was immediately broadened to include customization, leveling, power progression that typically includes gear.
If the game is gear progression it is an RPG. When someone says RPG aspect that means gear. When Ion told us the reason Templates were removed he said they removed the RPG aspect of the game. He used RPG to describe that Templates removed the customization and power progression.
I been playing online RPGs for 20 years since Diablo. I know what RPG means since I only play RPGs. Before online games loved console RPGs (gear based progression)
The point is, that is a PVE argument, and as long as PVP gear is tied to PVE progression this will be an issue. BiS is likely unnecessary, but during WoD, honor gear was 10ilvl below BiS, and earned in a weekend. How is that a bad thing?
Also, unrated BGs can now used to upgrade conquest gear. Why is it OK for rated players to not have to “work for it” aside from on rating push?
The result is that people who do not want to do rated will end up having to do content they do not want to do, just to remain viable in unrated BGs.
The reason and ONLY reason this is the situation is because we don’t have a PvP stat! That is why Honor gear is time-gated currently at Rank 3 which is 171 Item level because that is = to Heroic Dungeons.
You can’t have PvP gear be better than PvE gear because of Raid progression.
That game is long gone. Most of our power progression and power gap is from borrowed power/systems.
Honor is going to be pretty pointless pretty fast. Meaning you will be honor capped with nothing to use it for. Rated players won’t need to do any unrated content since they will have an abundance of honor from playing rated.
No it’s because we don’t have a PvP stat. The most important thing in this game is PvE and it’s progression. World first Raid, MDI etc. Nothing can get in the way of that.
So this is a PvP problem because we don’t have a PvP stat. If we did then PvE wouldn’t interfere.
unrated players need to do content that isn’t casual to earn better gear which is the entire point of playing an RPG game. The reason I log in and get excited about loggin in is because of attaining new awesome powerful gear.
Part of the competition is gearing up. If you are competitive you will want to do it. You will attempt to do Arena/RBGs or PvE. Or heck even farm some gold to buy some Epic BoEs. There are plenty of ways for casuals to get competitive and gear.
If you don’t love the gearing up process I have no idea why you play an RPG game (gear based game)
That is exactly what I meant by that. As long as PVP gear is tied to PVE progression (I.e no PVP stat or ilvl boost), PVP gear will play second fiddle.
seems like you just cant play WoW for fun anymore…you should be grinding n farming everything in you path , pve or pvp ,trying to be an elitistjerk , thinking you are good because gear ilvl n auto procs. if you aren’t an elitistjerk you should be nothing in the game. real bad design. blizz must give ppl freedom to play n be something, without the need to be a forced grinder n OP gear farmer n they will have a lot more ppl enjoying the game , not being tired/bored with it
No you are wrong about that by definition and I explained it to you clearly. Gear/Power progression is one of the main parts of RPG games. It falls under the RPG umbrella. Loot hunting, leveling, power progression games are RPGs.
Whether they are Diablo which is an ARPG or WoW which is an MMORPG. We are here for the GEAR/POWER. That is what makes RPG games so much fun and again why I only play them.
Yes that is possible as I said it falls under the umbrella. However I love the RPGs that are Power/Gear based games. Like I said when RPG is referenced it is now being used 99% of the time in regards to Gear/Power progression. Now you know.
Me too Diablo got me hooked even more on RPGs because I love finding powerful loot and legendaries items to make unique builds to own it up. Diablo was the best RPG PvP game of all time.
Grinding and gearing up should be the most fun part of this game or any RPG game. It’s why we are here. To go on an awesome journey to attain untold powers and then own it up in PvP.
Ion said we can’t do that because WoW is an RPG game so it won’t work. You don’t bring the player behind the keyboard you need to bring the right character so it doesn’t work. Again Ion said this in a Q&A when asked about solo Que.
