Blizzard, I have no idea when you will do the next allied races but please consider the Rajani mogu. I absolutely love this new clan added with 8.3.
From their ideals and goals we could even see their recruitment involve them uniting the remaining mogu clans into the Rajani. After the events of 8.3 it would certainly be believable for the other clans to be leaderless and decimated in numbers.
I really don’t care what faction they would be on. Mogu have been a long time wish of mine and now it is really possible.
Considering how much the mogu war with each other I dont see why they couldnt be neutral. One clan to alliance and one to horde. Would be poetic considering the pandaren of the same expansion were neutral.
Not my favorite AR wish but it currently makes sense in the story and alot of people want em so why not?
Really though wouldnt we have some hints if we were headed in this direction?
I dont think we are expecting a content release until pre-expansion so hard to say with no ptr…
Remind me why that was? Its always brought up but…
That was a long time ago when it was mentioned. Ghostcrawler era.
And I believe the quote specifically was confusion for pvp in terms of character frames identity. The “shape” or silhouette of the race being unique. (Which, considering Void Elves - its a moot point now)
I also think they werent happy with it due to the schism between the two pandaren leaders (of a race of benevolent peace loving creatures)… it didnt really sit right for the pandaren to be at war with each other even as allies or proxies.
While the Mogu have only been united by the Thunderking and otherwise war with each other and only respect power. Making them a much better option for a neutral race than most in game.
I was thinking about this earlier, seeing them using Draenei animations made me think they’d be a good Horde AR. For the Alliance, we have another rep, based entirely in a desert, and a race that people have been wanting that lives in another desert…
Knowing our luck we’ll get “Desert Human” though XD
I am honorbound to reply to every Mogu AR thread. Yessss!! They have awesome lore, great design and one of the few original race of WoW not from WC3 that’s really fleshed out with personality. Although I love my pandaren, anytime I see a mogu npc I wish I was playing as those chads instead.
Yes! Rajani Mogu would make an excellent addition to either faction! Considering they’re allied with the Golden Lotus against the other mogu clans, this might be the perfect opportunity to provide the pandaren with an amazing allied race.
Although the Pandaren and Mogu are themselves ancient enemies, the Rajani are a rare stock. They openly despise the actions of the other clans, such as the Baruk’s necromantic practices. All in all, the Rajani have so much potential lorewise and as an allied race.
Heck, their recruitment scenario could have something to do with reinstating the noble legacy of their race and embarking on the path to redeem it.
Lorewalker Cho was ECSTATIC to find out they were a thing.
“A Non-Hostile Mogu Clan!? We must make friends with them immediately!”
Not word for word, but the gist of it.
Really, if Blizzard would stop supersizing every damn NPC race, we’d have an excellent array of races that would make excellent candidates as playable races, but… nope.
Mogu? Monstrous.
Vrykul? Huge.
Ogre? Blocks out the noonday sun with their buttcheeks.
Arakkoa? There was no reason they needed to be 18’ tall.
Really, the size thing kills all of these. Unless people would settle for playing Pygmy Ogres and the like.
This is the main reason. Blizzard loves their silhouette. They want you to know from a glance if it’s Horde or Alliance. They take it into all of their games, Overwatch being huge with this.
Like you said Void Elves are the same except skin color, and it doesn’t even mater if you’re using name plates. I see no reason more neutral races shouldn’t be added. Join the faction based on your ideals vs racial identity.
Every NPC villain is always beefed up to Girrafian (possible AR idea right there) heights so that they are prominent in a scene while being swarmed by angry raiders.
