Raiding versus Mythic Plus

You forgot to say mythic Aspect’s Dreaming Crest you get from 16+ so nothing wrong for upgrade coming from +25 or 30 .

They are not only one that hates M+ with a passion

I actually agree with you here. I want those un nerfed affixes back. I want unnerfed sanguine, I want necrotic, I wouldn’t mind having skittish and teaming back. Those affixes were part of the challenge and part of the fun.

Not really because there are still a bunch of great items in raid.

If you like raiding, it’s still worth doing.

If you’re only concerned about ilvl, then yeah, I can see how raiding might not seem worth it until Mythic raids.

some people only raid; some people never raid.
some people only pvp; some people never pvp.
some people only run mythics; some people never run mythics.
some people play the auction house all day; some people don’t every use the auction house

i mean, “not worth the effort” is completely different for different people.

I view raiding as a social activity. But, if you are raiding purely for loot, heroic raiding is indeed pointless except for a few pieces if you can run M+ at a decent level.

M+ loot scaling far outpaces M+ difficulty scaling.

I like raiding because it’s fun being in a large group of players fighting giant bosses together. M+ is just not interesting to me in the slightest.

Considering heroic is extremely easy it’s accurate.

As easy as heroic is, I think 16s (aspect crests) and 18s (mythic track) are even easier.

And also, some people have been raiding for years and WANT to raid.

This pretty much. If you want easier gear, M+.
If you want cantrip weapons and trinkets, Raid.

this is the problem with raiding vs m+ in a nutshell.

Just as people were clearing heroic raid week 1, people were doing m+ 18-20 week 1.

you’re not wrong. I can’t say that I have a problem with the difficulty, but I also can’t deny that it’s easier than it has ever been.

So much disinformation in this thread it ain’t funny, raid is still the best loot distribution method in terms of conveying player power.

In weeks 1-4 raiding is your primary source of tier acquisition. Tier sets account t for 5-10% of throughput for most classes.

In weeks 1-4 you’re chasing proc items that ONLY drop from raid or throughput trinkets like beacon (heroic beacon was 7-10% of my damage on my prot warrior last season). We never get anything in m+ stated similarly that isn’t immediately nerfed with the exception of bloodscale in SL.

Crafting is taking 2 of those slots right off the bat week 0 for embellishments.

Yippee I get to m+ for some jewelry and off tier non embellished slots. Look at my sweet 489 boots…anyway.

Week 1-4, raid is still going to drop your best weapons (agi polearm, the leggo, etc.) with very few exceptions.

Post week 4 you’re farming BiS and xclusivwly from raid from minimal exceptions. M+ in conjunction with catalyst just fast tracks your tier acquisition and maybe some stat redistribution here and there.

Post week 4, All m+ offers are crests and a soft content nerf via gear drip at upper ilvls. After the second week. In week 3/4 you may catalyst a single piece of gear.

With the exception of a handful of spec specific chase pieces (like the algathar mastery trinket for unholy dk), m+ loot sucks.

Y’all tripping because I get 3 rolls on a 100 item loot table once a week to get a 6 Ilvl increase. But muh raid.

If you enjoy the content, do the content. If you don’t, go play a different game.

What he means here is that it doesn’t make sense to wall off gearing between M+ and raids, both PvE activities, but not wall of gearing between Arenas and BGs, both PvP activities.

No offense but I think multiple mythic raiders have a better idea than someone that does LFR.

He isn’t wrong though. To achieve maximum player power, you have to raid.

M+ has always only been good at filling gaps due to weekly lockouts, with the occasional trinket or weapon being BIS.

I’d say the biggest issue is crest farming when it comes to M+ vs Raid. Mythic raiders generally lock out deep into the raid, so you pretty much have to go back to M+ for crests. Needing to kill 9 bosses to max crests isn’t terribly helpful if you can only kill the first half of Mythic.

Content consumption has nothing to do with BiS lists on discord or frequently visited 3rd party sites. My play level does not impact the gear source. Gear is coming from where the gear is coming from.

I feel like it has now become the opposite. M+ can pretty much gear you up, and raiding fills the gaps with a few BIS items.

To get maximum player power you have to do both.

So no he isn’t correct because mplus has extremely powerful items as well.
