Raiding As A Whole And Why I don't Do It Anymore

So, I don’t know about you guys, but I haven’t raided seriously since the end of Shadowlands where the Jailer was the last boss, and even then, I only completed heroic. So, here’s a bucket list of why I dislike raiding or the players you meet in raiding guilds.

Most of the guilds I have joined are usually Mom or Dad guilds who try to push into Mythic or only raid Heroic. I hate these guilds a lot, you can tell that the people in these guilds do no prior research to their class or raid, and are usually there for a free carry, or whatever. Most of these guilds will have a hard time keeping people raiding just because well, raiding has a high turnover rate, and wiping on the same boss that you “progressed on” doesn’t mean you’re going to one shot it every week. The outliers are usually new people, or you’re still carrying people who refuse to get any better than they are. It creates apathy amongst the players in the guild, thus making them quit the game entirely, or doing something else that isn’t raiding. Honestly, the reason why I quit WoW for a few months at a time is usually just player interaction. Yes, I understand there are new or returning players, and they will play how they want, I have done the same.

Reason two I dislike raiding.

I dislike raiding because it used to be so much easier to get gear, or you had a chance of getting gear especially from charms. Also, I hate that they removed personal loot as an option to get gear for a raid group. Yeah, I can get a piece of raid loot from the vault, but sometimes there’s a specific boss I’d like to roll on for a piece of loot, and having that chance with that charm would make me raid for that piece.

Reason three why I dislike raiding.

I don’t have to set a schedule for any other activity in WoW that I want to do except for raiding. I feel like I’m too busy, or I just don’t want to put up with all the problems there are with raiding to actually raid. The trash, the constant wipes, the mom or dad with an open mic who doesn’t want to use PTT so I don’t hear their kids in the background, the drama over loot, the people who do no research and expect a carry every week, the two or three hours I have to invest every other day to raid. The whole aspect of raiding is just annoying? I’d rather see more dungeons in the M+ rotation, or more battlegrounds in a patch than see another raid made, honestly.

My last reason why I dislike raiding.

I dislike raiding because it takes away from other content that could be so much better. I feel like raiding as a whole is dying, less people are doing it, and doing other activities, I feel. Though, I have no concrete evidence to support this claim, but most of the people I talk to hate raiding as a whole as well, and would like to see raiding taken out entirely, and have other parts of the game focused on. I’d love to see more dungeons during a M+ season, I’d love to see more battlegrounds made, more classes and specs implemented, more transmog options, more end-game pillars that are more enticing than raiding.

Though, I dislike raiding there were parts of it that I like in earlier expansions. I loved raiding in Siege of Orgrimmar, I loved having charms for extra loot roles, I loved that raiding gear was some of the best gear you could get, I liked how simplistic, but hard the fights would be, most importantly I loved having flexible raids as an option to raid Mythic raids. I absolutely hate that raids HAVE TO have 20 people for Mythic, I think it’s probably one of the worst, if not the worst decision ever made for mythic raiding. Have too many people online for a raid, well, have them sit outside for three hours outside the raid just incase someone messes up too much, or they D.C. and never return. I remember raiding Mythic in Throne of Thunder, 10 players, best raiding I ever did, if you’re not going to get rid of raiding, you might aswell fix it and make it better.

Please make a post on why you dislike or like raiding.

I like raiding, I hop into discord with my friends and we chill out and kill some bosses and get some loot and clown around.

Probably the only thing keeping me subbed right now.

The main reason for me is I just really hate the raids. The last good raid was The Nighthold.

Personal loot in pug groups should be mandatory, imo.

You weren’t a real raider if you preferred personal loot. It was an absurdly terrible system.

You’re playing the wrong game.

Is this a classic “i am bad at raiding and or dont have time to mythic raid so therefore bad and remove it” post using We and us trying to act like its allot of people when reality is its him and really only him and maybe a few small but very loud and annoying asmonites type of post?

I don’t know…might have a point. Delves now exist.

I raided all through Legion and I admit I DID have a lot of fun, I sacrificed a lot of time I could have spent playing other games and it ended up feeling like a job at the end of it. I don’t want to go back to that.

That’s why I don’t raid anymore.

I like how 2 outta 3 points about disliking raiding are

“I dont like some guilds and raiding should be deleted because I dont like it”

I like that the mechanics are usually large and once you learn what you need to do at the individual level, they aren’t hard to follow. I also like that once I run it for the week I don’t have to worry about it again.

Because I pug, I practice strict expectation management when raiding. My goal is always to get at least 2 vault slots. Since drop rates are pathetic, I assume I won’t get anything. Any additional bosses and actual drops are just bonuses.

“Ugh, friends? That’s disgusting”

Literally have zero to do with each other.

People that enjoy delves likely don’t raid anyways.

But you told him since he didn’t like raiding and feels like it’s dying that he’s “playing the wrong game”. Delves existing is giving solo players a progression route so he’s not playing the wrong game.

So you make an entire post complaining about people not putting forth the effort to make your play time worthwhile…

…while not putting forth the effort yourself, to find a guild that wouldnt waste your time?

Got it

I stopped serious raiding after BFA. There’s nothing I can point to and say, “because of this……” It was me. I just wasn’t enjoying it or the time commitment anymore.

He is when he wants raiding removed.
