Are you an employee who worked there during those expansions and can tell us that they did no testing or prior research of any kind to determine how well those changes would work? As it appears they are doing now? Or is this just makework to give the systems specialists something to do so they don’t have to lay them off?
Easiest way to do that is to make single minded fury be better than titans grip
since when is a gear vendor a “system” you serious?
I can see limiting us to 3 choices in future tiers working to mitigate bad luck, but really for the final season of an expansion you should just let us go nuts and be able to get a coin every week, deck out every spec with every weapon and trinket.
Upgrading after rank 6 requires specific m+ rating, which you probably won’t get by just doing +2’s.
It’s because you may get the item you wanted to buy before that.
Prevents buyers remorse and will allow you to target another item.
It basically lowers the chance of getting the item you bought in the near future.
Ofc if you have bad luck you can get the item you bought to drop from the boss that same day, but bad luck is bad luck.
They replaced people who have passion in making video games, because they cost money, with cheaper, mathematical solutions, to “creating fun” in the “most cheap and efficient manner possible”.
This literally means, hiring devs temporarily to create systems that are easily changeable. That already happened. Those devs are fired. The systems exist. The systems are configurable just like one of those “godaddy” websites". The devs now aren’t creating anything, they are simply using a template of systems that already exist.
Well now they are realizing that a “mathematical solution” isn’t working for fun. So they are imposing another “mathematical solution” to force you to stay subscribed longer, so it takes an entire expansion to just reach any sort of progression, on a single character.
But only if you stay subscribed the entire time and make sure to do your raids for your scraps and crumbs.
Eventually your pile of scraps and crumbs will turn into an item!
Based on their mathematics, this should give people enough reason to stay subscribed for the next year and a half.
Unfortunately, they don’t understand anything “besides” the math. All the guys who actually envisioned the things we are doing today, are long gone. They have been ousted completely from the company. Anyone who remains is simply a cog in the wheel for the status quo. Literally not allowed to think outside the box, for anything.
Even these forums are filled with employee’s echo chambering their own brain washed thoughts.
If this patch is any indication of what to expect from Dragonflight, it’s just going to be Shadowlands, minus torghast, plus a reusable goblin glider dragon with a speed boost buff.
3 chances to get 3 pieces of gear with a 100% chance is a 100% improvement over the previous system
3 weapons eluded me from SOD and CN for transmog. Looking forward to knowing I can finally get those
I can tell you right now I have zero interest in this. You want us to grind the raids now in order to get three 278 items.
How about this… why don’t you just change your RNG system to one of valor, make the valor cap so that you can purchase one to two pieces of gear per week if you clear the raid each week.
You don’t have to reinvent the wheel and create yet another terrible grind where we have to kill 60 bosses just so you can try to make people stay in the game longer.
After all this time you guys still don’t get it. Your players hate unending gated grinds.
The way people use the word “systems” on this forum makes me feel like I’m in a fever dream. Getting exactly the gear you want, whenever you want it, is not satisfying character progression for a large number of gamers. There is a reason players invent progression challenges even inside sandbox games.
Anyway. This doesn’t require me to change how I play, but might enable me to do things I haven’t done before (e.g. some amount of mythic raiding). At minimum, it will be a bit of bad luck protection. I like it
I also expect iteration in the future, because that’s… normal for a live game
unless people unsubscribe and the game starts facing a real income disaster, they won’t change anything.
If people continue to subscribe and play the system as they designed it, and they can show the investors a fat profit report at the end of the quarter/year.
They were successful.
They literally can’t understand anything besides math and spreadsheets.
So you want us in full BIS in… 3 weeks?
Or they could bring M+ rewards down to earth so they stop being the most over-rewarding system in the game’s history.
Will this be happening to pvp gearing as well? Introduce wild battleground/arena/wpvp daily or weekly challenges to get special upgrade tokens. Some challenges can be something similar to pvp achievements like getting a certain amount of Honor Kills, win streaks, kill streaks, win a game without dying, kill 10 healers, etc. You can make killing the opposing faction’s leader a weekly event that gives a special gear reward.
So many small changes could be done to spice up pvp.
You only use 3 pieces of gear?
You only play one spec?
You only play 1 character?
Hey folks, will get to some responses soon but I’ve edited the main body to reflect something that was missing, which is to say:
Unique means killing the same boss during that same week won’t give credit - killing the Tarragrue on Normal and Heroic in the same week will only give 1 kill. This means the soonest a player could get all 3 Dinars is week 6 at the earliest, not weeks 1-3 as some have speculated. Sorry for the confusion!
We should be able to get a coin week 1 and then 1 coin every week after. A single piece of gear once per week that we have control over is not asking much. In fact, it’s overdue.
Appreciate the honesty, but…this doesn’t make it any more appealing. lol
it will be 3 weeks, then 2 weeks, then 1, kinda the point is so you dont buy an item week 1 then week 2 that item drops, its supposed to be badluck protection, not “THis is the main gearing scheme”
That… actually makes it worse, not better. A short but fun season would have been great, but it really looks like this is going to be another super long stretch without nothing better to do that get higher versions of the gear we already have.
