Raid Rewards Experiments in Season 4

If I had to guess, it’s due to the changes that will be occurring with Season 4 as to raid instances and loot rewards. Can’t say I understand such reasoning though.

ICC10 tier items cost 60 (gloves/shoulders) and 95 (helm/chest/legs) emblems of frost.

If you didn’t raid the max emblems you could earn per week was 18 (daily heroic gave 2 and 2 per VoA 10/25).

So you can do so math on how many weeks it would take to get 4p tier without raiding.

If you did raid it was 2 emblems per boss.

The entire raid was also time gated 2 months until it was fully released in a per wing basis.

Also the actual raid loot table items were not on the vendor. You couldn’t buy a Dislodged Foreign Object or Deathbringers Will trinket from a vendor for example. The vendors had their own items that mostly sucked compared to the raid gear.

Cause they are raising the maximum ilvl.

I have literally already answered all these questions at one point. There are no contradictions. You just have the reading comprehension of a 5 year old.

Maybe it’d help if you realize the whole idea for this patch was centered around trying new things with the entire playerbase.

Good compromise in my opinion, also, the first quest should give players 2 dinars or coins.

Theyre not out of touch. You could’ve said that a year ago but this is a sign theyre coming more to terms with the way things currently are. It’s a chance for them to engage with the whole playerbase during a time when people would most likely just cancel their sub till something new appears. Or stay in alpha/beta the whole time. You can still not take part in it, but at least now they will get more realistic data. They can’t test this sort of thing on the ptr is my view of their goal is truly accurate. The testing base is too small.

I didnt play during that time, but the way you describe it it also seems boring. And counterintuitive to current gearing that already let’s you get heroic gear from M+. These tokens are meant for getting those raid specific items you often found would not drop or took too long to get the chance at the drop.

Limited sucks. Let us earn one coin every week. You guys are so close to getting it right, you just need to get out of your own way.

The current experience is not fun. The loot drops are abysmal, so much so it’s barely worth clearing the raid if it wasn’t for more rng ( :unamused:) with the vault. Please take a hint from FF14. They have gear vendors, we can earn a piece every week, some pieces like helms and chests take longer. That pace feels good!

When players are spending hours every week working with other people ‘playing your game’ we should have control over what we are working towards. I am honestly sick of your rng loot system, it’s time for a change that benefits the players!

RNG  Is :clap:Not  Fun! Bring back valor and give us gear vendors or let us EARN a coin every week from raiding, pvp or M+.

So what about M+ hopefully there is a quest allowing us to also get 3 tokens for the season for those of us who don’t raid.

I have been running keys all season and still have zero cloth gloves or boots drop for me that I can use to turn into tier gear. Still using crafted ones… despite running the necessary dungeons a boat load.

Still rocking 3 piece tier because of it…despite having charges available in my catalyst…cause I’m not gonna pay 900k for 278 Boe gloves to turn into tier…

Don’t worry, I expect you’ll get 1 coin for failing to time a 10 or something.

This is wonderful for raiders. I might even dabble with it, although it’s a shame it doesn’t seem to include LFR.

I’m still waiting to hear what the plan is to retain the interest of people who don’t generally play for group content. There’s a wide range of folks who do group content but also do a lot of their own solo play outside of raid nights, and folks who don’t get in premade groups.

What’s in the works to keep us engaged with this new season? Normally it’s a bunch of quest chains, or something like world upgrade currency systems. Even the creation catalyst, which was mentioned here, doesn’t really seem to go anywhere for us in this upcoming bit of content revival.

I can’t imagine they’re depending on RNG mount drops to keep players like me engaged. If that were the case we’d have been active all of Shadowlands, right? 9.2 feels good with how ZM is playing, but it’s fading out. We’re reaching completion plateaus and unless we want to repeat the experience on alts, it’s kinda done for a lot of people now outside of the slow build-a-bear grind. A grind that’s pretty good, but it’s not enough by itself.

Yet we haven’t heard of any plans at all for non-instanced group content, shy of the blood elf and dark iron quest chains.

You can earn your coins in LFR. They are rewards from quests and LFR always gives quest credit. I’ll update in a min, looking for where I read it recently.

Here we go: Looking for Raid will have a Season 4/Fated Difficulty, and all wings will be available at the start. This is to say if the rotation begins with Castle Nathria being the Fated raid on rotation, all of LFR Nathria will be replaced with Fated LFR Nathria, at higher item levels. LFR also counts for quest progress, so players who don’t full clear a raid for the week can collect what leftover bosses they need from there.

Well, that’s definitely some good news then.

Overall I am excited to try the season and earn the rewards, but one thing that concerns me immediately upon asking myself “what class should I focus on” is the three drops being a bit unequal for different classes.

By this I mean the value of three particular drops is a bit different based on the class you pick, let me explain. Lets say I pick death knight with three drops I could pick Jaithys, and two relevant trinkets, one of those would probably be old warrior’s soul, not just because its good but it can work for multispec and the third trinket would be the choice between maining tank and not, dw frost somewhat leaves the table entirely if I’m looking to multispec unless I really really like dw frost and even then its a bitter feeling. In contrast a mage or warlock could pretty easily get fancy ryegalon/kt weapon+2 bis trinkets that are probably the same across 2-3 specs and not think about it too much. Then to the furthest extreme we could see druid where you could feasibly have 4 builds with different trinkets and 2+ sets of weapons. There is also just the weirdness of classes that can use the first token for big 2h weapon+2 trinkets vs classes that dual wield needing extra time for a similar thing and one less trinket.

This issue isn’t enough to push me away from liking season 4, but I do think its the first obvious issue if that makes sense. I know that I plan to try out rogue as an alt this season almost entirely because I can get the sylvanas daggers without relying on rng rather then gambling on whether I’ll be able to perform on a low drop rate on a boss my guild will likely reprog on, and I see this as a minor thing in the long scheme of things, but it will be something to improve on the next time this happens.

you do know this coin thing is literally a gear vendor right?
also we have never had a gear vendor this good, literally NEVER.
gear vendors have always sold base items equiveielnt to the lowest possible difficulty of the raid
but this will literally let you buy the EXACT item you want from the raid drop table, and then upgrade it to max ilvl, before this you would buy some random normal equivalent gear and then be done.

the only time we have had something even somewhat close was ICC where you bought teir from a vendor, then by getting random drop tokens from bosses upgraded it, but thats just RNG but you get to choose which piece you wish to upgrade first.

i am good with finishing up content, I am not happy about this affix business. Some of these fights will be progression for most and instead of this being a wrap-up, it’ll be even more overly mechanized.

usually tossing a generic ability to 10 bosses on 4 difficulties does NOT end with a fun, simulating and enjoyable experience.

You can’t say “I don’t want this because i don’t want grinds” and at the same time say “I don’t want this because i want them to test the entire system”. It’s one or the other mate.

You might want to lay off the hostility that being your superiority complex here, especially since you think i’m asking for the suggestions to replace stuff or think i’m saying “not to let anybody else test it”… If you’ve read my comments, you’ve known these two thoughts of yours are neither the case.

Which is why i’ve suggested an experimental test server to test only that specific thing or put in an NPC to help better test the entire system without weeks of grinding…

As someone that does heroic raids and +15s (timed my first +19 this week) I think it would be very cool to cap gear at that level.

People like myself wouldn’t feel pressured because our BIS items are forever out of reach (I’m still using a normal mode trinket from Sanctum because the ones for me in Sepulcher are junk) and we can continue doing what we do.

Furthermore, the people who want to and are able to push mythic raiding should be rewarded with big amazing mounts and flashy gear. It should be a prestigious thing that they get to show off when they ride circles in Dalaran. That and the obvious personal achievement of completing the hardest content in the game.

But that’s just my opinion.

I love the way FF14 does gear. There are multiple sources that are usually on par with each other, but with different stats depending on what you might want. Also, every piece has materia slots, so you can add more of a stat you might be deficient on. As for the acquisition, well that also feels soo much better. I always feel like I am working towards my next upgrade, and that I can plan them out. Their raids all drop coffers you can open to gain an items of your spec, and tomestones you can just turn in for gear. In fact, so many PVE activities drop tomestones. It’s nice. I always know where my next piece is coming from, and about how long it will take to get it. So much better than WoW’s pray to the RNG and hope method. :frowning:

You realize they decided to only make trinkets and weapons available right?

You’re so wrong it’s almost cute. Try peeling your attention off Blizzards rear end before you reply.

You’d have more customers if you stopped only focusing on the three pillars.
