People can already sell carries, raid ids aren’t stopping them.
The only thing raid IDs are stopping is regular players from completing their raid when someone leaves.
Nobody wants to join a raid in progress, because by doing so they forgo all the loot from the previous bosses that have been killed. Loot lockouts make it far, far easier to find replacement players.
exactly this but you have to understand the players sentiments of botting or boosting/carries being a thing. I dont they will be a problem especially if its loot lockout anyone can join a raid regardless of where they completed but the loot acquisition only matters if you havent killed that boss yet so in turn pugs would waste less time listing through 6/6 XP + Consumes/WB + Linkdin + Job Resume to do a raid that requires some thought on the final boss like how does blizz expect these players to even learn the runs if they cant even get in cause you got gatekeepy players infesting the game from logs to checking xp? Like I still remember after the first reset I hit 40 and had pre-bis gear ontop of the best BFD gear for my rogue, wanted to run gnomer for a fail or win doesnt matter just wanna learn it personally. All I saw was 6/6xp across the board to where I know for a FACT that people are just lying now so they dont get skipped/ignored
I don’t really care about the sentiments of classic andys. Their takes are astronomically bad, nobody thinks raid lockouts are a good idea, and if they do, they’re just plain stupid.
Let me put it in a senerio to better explain why I think letting people carry raid groups is a bad idea with the no raid lockout idea specifically because of gold selling.
Lets say you have 5 people selling carries, as long as the 5 people being carried can do the most basic of mechanics. Lets say they are selling the carries for like minimum of like 30g per carry. That’s 150g per run and say they could probably find enough people to buy those runs to do at least 8 a day. That would be 1200g a day and 3600g per 3day lockout. Now have more than just 1 team of 5 doing that and you have an enormous amount of gold being moved in the server, easy for RMT gold to get moved around.
Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t mind being loot locked or even boss locked. There just has to be a way to change from raid IDs to something else that wouldn’t benifit gold sellers.
counter point even on retail this isnt even that huge of a problem, sure its still a problem but its something that will NEVER go away as long as theres gold in the game. Systems for players to benefit from shouldnt be completely locked or gatekept cause theres a potential for it when even AH itself can still be considered the OG RMT problem. You got people trying to sell pendulum for 5k, like come on
Loot lock out wont promote these issues cause the players getting on wont even waste the time to worry about the boosters themselves. Boosters would rather waste the single effort of running SM runs instead
And again I don’t care. The only thing that has changed in this scenario is that fewer people are doing the carries, but they are each doing more of them.
I don’t care how other people play the game, I don’t care if people buy gold or do GDKPs. It actually doesn’t affect me at all. Raid lockouts have a far more negative effect on me than all the gold sellers in the world combined.
There is your problem, you are complaining about something that “you” dont care about when this is a game that is community based. If blizzard can find a way to change how raid lockouts works thats great, but I highly doubt they will cater to you or a group of people that don’t care that gold sellers are a problem to the community.
Ironically they are more of a problem in the game mode that has raid lockouts than the mode that doesn’t, mostly because idiotic classic andys keep arguing against the solution.
Instead of throwing shade why don’t you try to come up with a solution that benefits both sides? If you listened to what I said I’m not arguing against anything, I literally said if they could find a good way to change raid lockouts I would be all for it. You are in here just trying to pick fights with people.
it’s not hard, but the system is there to encourage guilds and community.
players like to pretend they’d help guildies with fights if they could do it multiple times but only loot once. but in reality, every time someone is asked in retail, he answers “no, I’m locked”.
A friend of mine needs help in a raid fight? I can bring any toon I want, because i know subbing in for that 1 fight won’t lock my character to that lockout for the whole week.
In Classic? I’d be giving up all the loot from the whole raid to go help a friend with 1 boss, so I would say no.
If wow tokens were introduced sure, they would probably have a lot of people leave SoD but it could eventually slow the gold sellers. It wouldn’t stop people from selling gold anymore than it stopped them when they introduced it in Wrath, the price of gold on RMT sites just plummeted and people starting buying it all up for pretty much 50% off and turned it into game time. It might be different for SoD but im not exactly sure how much gold has been pumped into our servers. So that could be one solution.
I personally disagree with it because it feels better to not be carried in a group and earn my spot/loot by doing my part. If they did put in some sort of way to buy gold directly I would just try my best to avoid the people that choose to play that way.
Hundreds, I guess? People in my guild play alts a lot, and mostly pug on those alts. Its not at all uncommon to ask in guild chat for people to join in a pug raid they are doing. Something that is only possible because raid lockouts don’t exist in normal/heroic.
“Hi, I watched an Asmongold video where he was making critiques about SoD, despite starting off his video by saying he still has not played phase 2 yet at all. He doesn’t like Raid IDs, so here I am posting on the WoW forums about why Raid IDs are bad.”
If they ever moved away from Raid IDs, I absolutely cannot wait for your inevitable follow-up post complaining about how raids are taking too long now.
“People who only need loot off a boss or two just leave after that boss, then we have to refill, then more people leave because it takes too long. WHAT THE HELL BLIZZARD!?!”
“There needs to be a penalty for people who leave in the middle of a raid!!!”
I never said you did and from the looks of your M+ profile I would be more inclined to say the only real reason you want loot lockout is so that you can sell raid services. Which is completely fine.
This isnt retail and thats one of the biggest reasons a lot of people playing SoD.
