Raid Griefing

How do we report a player who was purposefully wiping a LFR raid? They were using their evoker’s Rescue ability to move another player into the boss’ aggro range. Then, they’d immediately run away, and the boss would attack the other player.

This player would also blame the person that they moved to the boss in order to get them kicked from the LFR. If you only looked at the logs, it would appear that the other player was the one who was responsible.

This happened multiple times. Someone was erroneously kicked.

When I finally saw what they were doing and called them out for it, they did it to me. They used Rescue to move me to the boss, ran away, the boss aggroed on me, and the raid wiped. Then, this player blamed me for the wipe.

(Thankfully, I wasn’t kicked. But for a while, the raid had to decide who they believed.)

Kick him is the easiest way.

Vote to kick, put them on ignore so you never have to group with them again?

yes, we do not tolerate rude people. kick them out. if you hear them in general chat making insult, lock them. don’t answer it. it’s sad.

the best thing is to walk away. start a new one and wait.

I’d like to file a more detailed report, because if a GM takes a quick look at the logs, they might think that player did nothing wrong.

There was no use of Misdirection, and the boss didn’t aggro onto them.

GMs don’t micro-manage groups like that unfortunately. Removing them from the group (vote to kick) is the punishment. Unless they used inappropriate language which could have been reported via right-click report in-game.

I just want to prevent them from doing it again to another LFR raid.

Besides wiping the raid, they were getting innocent players kicked.

In the report menu there are options to report a player for Gameplay Sabotage I think.

You would select the option for Blocking Team progress. Then explain in the text box they were using X skill on another char to pull the boss and wipe the raid.

I didn’t see that option when I tried reporting them.

Either I completely missed it, or it wasn’t there.

Drat. I am going off the MMO Champ article that explored the new reporting options in Dragonflight :frowning:

I have not tried it personally.

That kind of behavior though IS against the rules when it blocks the entire team and prevents any progress.

I agree.

When I tried reporting them to include more details about what they were doing (since it’s not immediately obvious from the logs and it’s not well-known like a hunter’s Misdirection), I was like… None of these reporting categories apply to this raid griefing situation.

To expound on this, you should definitely make this report so they can take a look. But just to let you know, they generally do not get involved in these situations. We all went through this with the priest’s Leap of Faith. An ability that Blizzard gives a class is not something they generally punish for using.

Especially when there are options for handling this, such as VtK and ignore. In the end, as frustrating as a 30-45 minutes wait can be, you can remove yourself from the situation.

Is there a way to report them right now, after the fact?

Even if a player abuses an ability to wipe LFR raids and get innocent people kicked?

Players were getting erroneously kicked because Details would show the other player as the one taking the first hit. If you didn’t see the Evoker using Rescue to move another player to the boss, you had no idea.

Yes. You can report them for Zone Disruption I think. That is the closest category.

Be sure to state in the first sentence that you could not report in game. Otherwise they just tell you to use in-game reporting.

Then keep it short and simple. Char-server was using X skill to move other players to pull the boss and wipe the raid repeatedly.

Yeah, I was considering Zone Disruption, but that’s a different situation from raid griefing. I wish there was a Gameplay Sabotage category.

Thanks, I’ll do this.

The raid instance in this case is the Zone. They are making it unplayable for the entire group and doing so over a long period of time. That fits the definition.

Oh, and in addition to char name- server give the raid name, difficulty, and TIME (note time zone). They need that info to even check the logs.

You can open a ticket. I’m not sure if there is any specific category that will work better, but absolutely open a ticket.

Unfortunately, yes. Don’t get me wrong, it should be looked at, and maybe they can do something. But generally, wiping a raid with a given ability is something they would look at changing the ability. Off the top of my head, not allowing it to be cast on someone not in combat would be a suggestion.

As far as players getting erroneously kicked, that on the other players who voted for it. The Evoker can only initiate the vote or cast one vote. Others made the decision, and being dishonest is not against the rules either.

That’s why leaving is the way to go. Even if is it totally against the rules and Blizzard will definitely punish them, that doesn’t happen in real time. It takes time to get to the report, and time to investigate it. Just leave and remove yourself from the situation. Report it as well, but just leave. No reason to stay there and continue to get trolled.

They were blaming the victims in chat too, in order to get the raid to kick them.

If you looked at Details, you’d get tricked and agree with them.

Indeed, but that is still on the players who actually vote to kick them. Someone can make up every lie in the world, but lying is not against the rules. They can only officially vote one time, regardless of whatever yarn they spin to convince others.

Edit to add: My whole point (which I hadn’t communicated clearly yet) is when you report, focus on the Zone Disruption and preventing raid progress, as Mirasol said. If you focus on the using of the ability, or them lying to get people kicked, those are things that aren’t likely to be considered against the rules. So mention it, but don’t dwell on those aspects.
